    D&D 3.x [3.5] within 5 feet/5 feet away

Maybe Fog Cloud gives concealment even within the casters square, while Obscuring Mist doesn't? Or maybe it means that Fog Cloud gives 20% concealment in adjacent squares ("5 ft. away") and 50% on further squares, while Obscuring Mist gives no conealment on adjacent squares ("5 ft. away", which...

Drider. They have reach of 5 feet. But by RAW they're using Large sized weapons. Yes, nonsensical, considering that a drider (or a centaur for that matter) is Large, but has arms like a normal Medium sized humanoid, but that are the rules. Fortunately I'm playing PF where that particular...

Uh, yes, it was quoted several times.

I don't use books. I use SRD. Apparently the pdf I looked into was in error. No matter, the SRD has the exact same text (minus some fluff), and I found a pdf without errors. We are on the same page. Obviously I'm talking about 3.5. The sentence from that page isn't even relevant. It explains...

It's an example. If it somehow was rules related, they would specify what exactly happens if the weapon isn't approprately sized. But they don't. Thus it's irrelevant or a situation where the DM has to houserule. Personally I would houserule that smaller weapons loose reach and bigger two-handed...

That are the rules. I didn't make them. Please, show me a rule that says a weapon has/doesn't have reach based on it's length. Show me a rule that says a smaller reach weapon losses it's reach property, or a bigger weapon gains the reach property. I'll wait. Funny how upthread someone suggested...

Except you did. Inhuman Reach makes your limbs longer. Deformity [Tall] also makes your limbs longer (by making you taller). Add that to the length of the weapon. How exactly does a 6-8 ft. human reach 10-15 ft.? No. I'm stating RAW. By RAW a reach weapon doubles your reach. and you're saying...

Because I was too lazy to change Screwball to Pinkie. I did it on other boards I post on, just not here. Now it's changed.

Not really. Well, yes. It's within the rules, thus it's RAW. And how exactly do you know what is RAI? And what RAI do you mean? Read As Intended or Read As Interpretated? My avatar implies that I'm a troll? You're joking, right? I don't know if I should find it amusing or insulting. Please...

No, but I'm not talking about what's sensible. I'm talking about RAW.

    Knight Feat Build

No, actually. It only mentions "natural reach", which isn't specified what it means and can be interpreted either way. I don't see such an indication in the rules. There are no rules for adding the reach property to larger weapons. If a medium character with Monkey Grip wields a large...

So? Weapon size is only relevant when you talk about Light, One-handed and Two-handed. Reach is something else entirely. RAW is RAW. It doesn't have to make sense. By RAW it doesn't matter how long actually is a weapon. What matters is what size is it's intended wielder and what special...

I don't see that part in the rules on Reach weapons. They say reach weapons double reach, and then give examples for the most common sizes: small, medium and large.

Reach weapons double your reach, not just add +5 ft..

    Knight Feat Build

Except with those feats you only have reach of 10-15 ft., while with a reach weapon your normal reach is doubled. So if you have feats to spend you can take both them and a reach weapon for a whooping 20-30 ft. reach!

    Why is that relevant?

Large longsword => two-handed without MG => one-handed with MG. Medium greatsword => two-handed without MG => one-handed with MG. The weapons are treated as smaller. A smaller two-hander is considered a one-hander, as per the "inapproprietly sized weapons" rules.

    Knight Feat Build

You can use a small two-handed weapon as one-handed thanks to "inapproprietly sized weapons" rules. Monkey Grip allows to use a weapon one size larger. Thus, you can use a medium sized two-handed weapon one-handed. I'm not saying it is better or optimal. I'm saying that you where incorrect. It...

That also means that Monkey Grip does indeed work that way, you just have to also know the "inapproprietly sized weapons" rules.
