Last time I played D&D it had mechanics. Quite a lot of them, actually. And how else should I define it? As I said earlier (or was it in another thread?), I can pretend I'm a hero, but I'd rather be really one.

I like to play competent heroes, not incompetent peasants. In a game with mechanics you do it by using mechanics. Sure, I could pretend that my character is a great hero, just like I can pretend that my bicycle is a Ferrari, but why would I do that when I could have the real thing?

We can't have players having fun by using their class abilities, now can we. That would be terrible.
