Getting some minis - where do you get yours?

Warhammer miniatures cover a good range, though monster selection may be limited (Unless you want orcs, goblins, ogres, trolls, and the like). Plastic or metal. Unpainted. Generally 8-12 per package, depending upon type. Non-random. Also, Reaper (metal, unpainted, large variety).

    Minis versus new books

As for me, anything Iron Kingdoms or Warmachine I automatically purchase. Good fluff, good crunch, good world. As for minis, I purchase, again IK/Warmachine regularly and Warhammer minis as well (can't beat 12-20 to a pack, and they are not random). So, if there are no new IK books, which is...

    Command: Die

I believe it is a one-word command and suicide is not a valid command. So, unless you can come up with one word for killing yourself, which I believe must be a verb (memory is a little foggy here, but I know it is not allowed per RAW in any edition), it is not going to work.

    Command: Die

The spell would fail since the victim cannot "Die," as stated above. Otherwise, if interpreted by a loose DM, the victim would simply collapse for a round.

    Where are the templates?

Advanced Bestiary from Green Ronin is a book with just templates. I find it useful.

Is gaming without map and minis really bad?

I started using minis when 2E Combat and Tactics came out, then with 3.x, thanks to the love of tactics my players have. Since then, I have used minis for everything except Call of Cthulhu. I like using them, but still gripe about it.

    Players as NPCs

One of the GMs I once gamed with had a fairly long Warhammer game going, such that all the characters were pretty tough and could survive without the rest of the party on certain adventures. One thing that the GM did was run a number of individual games, where the main character was the only...

    Frame Story

I like the idea, as long as the players go along with it. Will there be rewards in the form of Xp for the real characters? And, assuming this is a story which is already written down (in the discovered book), I guess reality and the book can differ, thanks to the slant of the writer.

    Roll Surprise!

I am pretty sure Monte Cook did this in his Arcana Evolved setting, as well as Mearls' Iron Heroes. IIRC the skill was called, "Notice," or something similar. Also, Hide in shadows and Move silently became, "Sneak," I think.

How Many Players In Your Game, Then and Now

My groups were always smaller in the old days. I think, and am glad, that 3.x and the internet have spread the game, and rpgs in general, to more people.

CA, East Bay/Antioch Iron Kingdoms or Warhammer

I am currently looking to form a new group on Friday nights to game using either Warhammer Fantasy Role Play or Iron Kingdoms. My current group games every other Sunday (alternating DMs, I run Eberron, The other DM runs Forgotten Realms). I have two players who will not flake and all of us are...

    D&D vs WHFRP

I have played and enjoyed both. I mostly DM for 3.5 and act as a player in Warhammer. As mentioned, the rules are smoother and the power curve is more grim , gritty, and "realistic." Unless you are a wizard. They are just down right scary as they progress in careers. As an example, after a...

    Dark Conspiracy rpg

Don't know if anyone is interested, but I stumbled across this by accident: http://darkconspiracytherpg.info/page.php The first edition (never saw the 2nd) has always been one of my favorite horror rpgs.

quick & dirty WFRP Karak Azgal

What are you looking to discuss, if you do not mind? I have been playing in a bi weekly Warhammer game for a year now, in addition to the 3.5 games that I run myself on opposing weeks. I actually find the rules are already quicker and easier than 3.5, and the kill count rises quickly (thanks...

Favorite System that Never Caught On

Third Edition is correct. Both it and second edition get my vote, as does the previously stated Dark Conspiracy. Star Frontiers, pre Zebulon's Guide

    DM Theory: Metagaming on Purpose

I'm kinda lost here. By metagame, do you mean talking out of character when at the table? Or maybe I missed the whole idea. This is pretty standard for my group, since I run 6 players, and they talk about whatever, whenever. Of course some of them get pretty thrashed too, since they may not...

Should Campaign Settings include a metaplot?

Game designers specifying, after releasing the core campaign product, where the setting is going. If I want war, that is my decision, or a dying race, or fallen god, etc.. Iron Kingdoms, from my earlier post, produces new product to sell their miniature war game, progressing a plot of war, in...

THe RPG book you've waited for is going to be a PDF only release, do you buy?

Hmm, wonder who you mean? I prefer PDF, especially with price difference. I'll print what I want out of the book and put it into page protectors/folders, that why my dogs, coffee, players don't screw them up. I wish everyone would make pdf versions of their product, except WotC. They can...
