I thought Regdar was racially ambiguous, but if I had to call it, I would have said he looked black in the PHB. When I watched the Scourge of Worlds interactive DVD, Regdar definitely seemed like a black man to me. I thought that was cool.

Hi, I would suggest trying the 3.5 based, basic D&D boxed game. It has much simpler rules to start playing with. Once you get going with that you could then make the transition to full 3.5 or Pathfinder alpha. Sorry, I just noticed that the OP already made a choice.

I think you're on to something here RangerWickett. Ability damage, ability drain, negative levels, Righteous Might, Bull's Strength, etc., which all affect internal numbers have repeatedly ground sessions to a stand still while everyone does the math.
