Pathfinder 1E What's this, then, Paizo? ANOTHER video game? By Obsidian?

Edit: Aaaaaaand I'm dumb and can't read.

The double standard for magical and mundane abilities

    Sorry Umbran. Moment of weakness.

The double standard for magical and mundane abilities

In addition to being incredibly insulting, this is pretty rich coming from a guy who is convinced that, over years of playing D&D and rolling god-only-knows-how-many dice, he falls into anything but the "statistical middle".

D&D 5E (2014) Legendary Actions (from HotDQ download)

I think "legendary actions" refers not to the fact that the actions themselves are legendary, but rather that these are bonus actions that only legendary creatures receive.

D&D 5E (2014) D&D Website Redesign (And a Tyranny of Dragons Teaser Video)

The new site is gorgeous. Took me about a minute to find where they'd stashed DDI (hint: Product Info > Tabletop Games > Digital Tools) but everything is clean and snappy.

The edition wars have hit a new low

Quite true, though perhaps not in the way you might have intended! After all, D&D has seen its share of book-burning in the past. What lofty company these guys now share.

The edition wars have hit a new low

Yes, it is worse. And not even subtly worse. Glaringly, shockingly worse. One example is recycling them because you have no need for them anymore and recycling is what you do with things you don't have any personal use for. The other example is someone making a public show out of the...

The edition wars have hit a new low

Yeah, they're not trying to make an inflammatory statement at all. Not that RPG books should be treated as somehow sacred, but imagine if someone publicized a picture of a bunch of holy texts (from a specific religion) burning in a bonfire. You don't think that's intended to make people upset...

The edition wars have hit a new low

What a mature reaction to a game you guys collectively had.

    D&D 5E (2014) Dear WotC: D&D 5, Hero Lab, and the OGL

Sure, but on the other hand 4e sported a pretty solid set of first-party digital tools, including the best RPG database I've ever used and one of the best character creators I've ever used. It's worth noting that WotC never achieved the level of support you're longing for, even when they did...

    D&D 5E (2014) Dear WotC: D&D 5, Hero Lab, and the OGL

That's what Trapdoor Technologies/Project Morningstar already is. Or did you mean a license for 3rd party software support specifically with Hero Lab?

D&D 5E (2014) D&D 5e Basic Set: Things that make you go "what?!"

Am I missing something? It looks like at 1st level a Wizard should be able to recover a single 1st-level spell. What do you see that is preventing that from happening?

D&D 5E (2014) What does this photo say to you? [Project: Morningstar)

No. You didn't question anything. You literally said that the study proves that electronics use hinders or destroys a person's ability to function in a group environment. The study didn't say anything like that, and now we're trying to figure out why you characterized it that way. And, of...

D&D 5E (2014) What does this photo say to you? [Project: Morningstar)

This is actually a really interesting angle that we should be exploring: Are D&D players not multitasking when they play without electronics present? In my experience, players continue to do things other than sit and listen (or speak) even if they don't have a phone, laptop, or tablet - they...

D&D 5E (2014) What does this photo say to you? [Project: Morningstar)

I don't think he was attacking you for the content of their study. I think his primary concern was with the way you represented the results of the study to us ("proven to wreck the communal experience"). Your characterization was unsupported - there's really no way that you can claim an 11-17%...

    D&D 5E (2014) Origin New Edition Panel

I feel like the sort of person who is dedicated enough to claim mastery of the system is probably dedicated enough to keep up with a handful of updates every once in a while. And the sort of person who doesn't care about mastery of the system is the sort of person who probably doesn't mind...

Why would that be the case? You would be under no obligation to continue paying for the service.

    D&D 5E (2014) Origin New Edition Panel

This tweet from Chris Tulach from a few minutes ago indicates that we'll probably be hearing something on this very topic today.

    D&D 5E (2014) Origin New Edition Panel

Right. So it won't happen this cycle. It probably won't happen next cycle. But, if things continue to go the way they have been, it will eventually happen.

    D&D 5E (2014) Origin New Edition Panel

What you're describing is a hard problem, but you are characterizing it as an impossible problem. I don't believe that's the case.
