Is this an Attack of Opportunity?

Ummm... you guys seeing the line in the PHB above where it says touch spells on friends do provoke AOO's?

Costs for hiring npc as advenutres

Answer to this is "no". As stated earlier, if you want classed followers, the core-rules way is to take the Leadership feat. One thing: Consider the PHB spellcasting prices (10 x spell level x caster level). It costs 10 gp just for one casting of cure light wounds, and that's if you go to the...

Is this an Attack of Opportunity?

Notice the following from the Table: Actions in Combat (PHB or SRD): The "touch a friend" is listed separately from casting the spell, but they both say "Yes" to the Attack of Opportunity question. (Note that 3.0 also had a line listing "Use touch spell on self: No", not found in 3.5).

Official Tomb of Horrors 3.5 conversion (merged)

    1. Gygax would gag. He doesn't like 3rd Ed., and doesn't let his current products be released with d20 System stats. Of course, you could ask: http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=125997 2. No, not in a tournament. Of course there are non-tournament convention games, on the side.

    Spring Attack doubt

Hence my comment about "logic": under standard rules of logic, you can't choose an option that leads to a paradox.

    Spring Attack doubt

There's a difference between "logic" and "common sense". Your choices for resolving this matter (the "can you pick your target after using Spring Attack?" question) are: (1) "Yes" --> results in a paradox. (2) "No". Pick one.

    Cartography Skill?

Me, I do prefer Profession (cartographer). It's sort of halfway between Craft & Knowledge. It's more than just the physical object -- it's about communication with other people. If "bookkeeper" and "scribe" are Professions, then so too should "cartographer".

    counterspelling item effects

My reading is "no". First quote is from the SRD. Second quote is from the 3.0 FAQ p. 48. So my reading is that any items that are command-word or use-activated (like wondrous items such as boots) are "spell-like effects" and cannot be counterspelled. The one place of ambiguity I see is this...

    Spring Attack doubt

I completely agree with how Souljourner and Frankthedm have more fully explained it.

    Spring Attack doubt

Yes. Also, the fighter cannot attack Ogre B (because his action was to attack Ogre A). This has to be considered a special mechanic of Spring Attack. As an added personal note, as DM I don't allow "move action, observe, think about it, next action". I generally require my players to simply...

Official Tomb of Horrors 3.5 conversion (merged)

I must admit WOTC is pretty schizophrenic when it comes to converting classic monsters. There's apparently a desire to "bulk up" everything to legendary proportions, but then they're impossible to use in the signature adventures that made them famous in the first place. Here, we have the...

    Falling

Yeah, I recommend the 500/1000 figure. (And wish they'd put it in a core book, this gets asked by everyone at some point.)

D&D 3.x 3.5 changes now that we've had time, a rambling, babaling comentary

Souljourner, can't help but say I find it a bit ironic that you under "spells" you can name 2 benefits and overlook the I don't know, 50 or so other changes all over the spell rosters. Especially when: No, 8 hours to identify a number of items equal to your level.

I already have a 3rd-Edition style conversion of the "reaction time" traps in Tomb of Horrors, in the same vein as the original: http://www.enworld.org/downloads/fileinfo.php?id=327

Question on Pro Evil and Improved Trip

Like I said, 3.0. Your expectation was not generally done from 3.0 -> 3.5. WOTC said the 3.0 FAQ is still held as applicable except where underlying rules were explicitly changed in 3.5.

D&D 3.x 3.5 changes now that we've had time, a rambling, babaling comentary

Yeah, I totally agree with the points of your analysis. I also had another player who lobbied for 3.5, started his own 3.5 game for about a year, and then came back admitting it wasn't the better system.

    Multiple attack Q

You should have 3 attacks at BAB +13/+8/+3. With the full attack action, you can divide those attacks between any targets, and there's no penalty for doing so. From the SRD under "Combat I: Full-Round Actions":
