    Breaking Bones/Severing limbs Q&A's

There is nonlethal damage. Monks are especially talented at it. That's simply how the D&D rules are set up to handle this.

Good thread for Halloween weekend. :)

    Enchanted Holy Symbols

It would be a "New Magic Item", which is effectively a House Rule. It's entirely up to the DM whether this is doable or not on his or her campaign. http://home.earthlink.net/~danielrcollins1/dndfaq3.html

    Do your players use counterspell?

Do you have a link to that narrative? In order to pull that off the cleric would need to be within touch range of the dragon! (Due to the target-in-range requirement). If there's anything I could change about Counterspelling, it would be the need to target one opponent. If you just didn't have...

The Gnoll... what level am I?

No, he starts at LA + HD + class level = 1+2+1 = level 4. You're a 4th-level character, with 6,000 XP. From the SRD in "Improving Monsters":

Need help figuring out the ring creation rules

Magic item pricing has guidelines, not rules. It's a design art, not a science. From the DMG:

Are WotC's errata OGL? Would you use a Wikipedia-like version of the d20 SRD?

The Errata and FAQs are not published under the OGL. Reportedly WOTC has sometimes inserted errata into the SRD, but they don't seem to announce when that happens. FAQ stuff never goes into the SRD. You'd have to get WOTC's explicit permission to republish those materials.

Can someone who understands Statistics help me?

Just simulated the point-buy calculation in C++ (excluding hopeless characters). The average result I come up with is 38.4. Code attached below.

Can a wand be used more than once per round?

You're arguing in favor of a chain of a half-dozen wizards all using the same wand in a round, and you're worried that a pair of fighters might waste one attack in my game? :D

Can someone who understands Statistics help me?

This is a surprisingly hard math problem. I've spent days in the past picking out problems in people's alleged solutions to the general pick M out of N dice problem. Anyway, just wrote a C++ simulator for this one, ran it a million times: average is 13.43. I figure that comes out just the same...

Can a spider-critter be an animal if it's got an Int of 2?

Here it is, from the Epic SRD: I suppose for your product you could create a special spell, feat, class ability, or magic item that gives a bonus to make these DCs attainable.

Why is there a Caster Level for Golems?

No, golems are not treated as magic items for anti-magic (like dispel magic, et. al.) effects. From the SRD under "Special Abilities: Antimagic": From the FAQ, under "Monsters":

Can a wand be used more than once per round?

Well, anytime you detect a situation where you think that the general rules mechanic "makes no sense" in this regard, that's when the DM has to step in and impose ad hoc simultaneity. That's exactly what the "Ad Hoc Simultaneity" rule is in the DMG for.

Can a spider-critter be an animal if it's got an Int of 2?

Aren't there special variant rules somewhere to be able to train Vermin?

D&D 3.x 3.5 changes now that we've had time, a rambling, babaling comentary

I still play 3.0. My standard rant on 3.5: http://home.earthlink.net/~danielrcollins1/down3-5.html (highlights: weapon sizes, mini facing, DR, CR bumps, XP calculation, crits, cover, spell changes, etc.) Here's the list of 3.5 things I like enough to House-Rule into my 3.0 game: 1) [3.5SRD]...
