    d20-Based Sanity

d20-Based Sanity These rules are a modification of the "Variant: Sanity" from Unearthed Arcana (available online here: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/campaigns/sanity.htm ). Use those rules with the following modifications: - Sanity checks are Will Saves (DC 10). - Sanity points are simply...

    Dispel Magic vs. multiple summoning

Many would agree, but I disagree with that. Feel free to search for the previous thread where this was discussed.

    d20 Cthulhu Creatures?

Could you possibly email that to me, to "dcollins at superdan.net"? Thanks!

    d20 Cthulhu Creatures?

Anyone have a copy of that web enhancement? It seems to be gone from the WOTC site.

    Dispel Magic vs. multiple summoning

Simply apply standard targeting rules. You can see a wall of fire, so you can target it with dispel magic. You cannot see a charm person, so you cannot target it with dispel magic.

    4 counterspelling questions

I've asked a lot of the similar questions in the past. 1. No. See the Official FAQ. 2. WOTC CustServ said "No" when I asked. They give routinely messed-up answers, so it's not a great source. I think the answer should be "Yes" when using dispel magic. 3. Yes. 4. I think "No".

Why doesn't the 5' step provoke AoO?

Just for argument sake, I think a more elegant House Rule would be something like: House Rule If a 5 ft. step takes a character out of contact with an enemy, the enemy has the option of an immediate, free 5 ft. step to maintain contact.

    Summon Monster Ruling

My reading is that they should speak Abyssal, Celestial, or Infernal, by alignment. Under "Skills: Speak Languages" it notes typical speakers: Abyssal: Chaotic evil outsiders Celestial: Good outsiders Infernal: Lawful evil outsiders

    d20 Cthulhu Creatures?

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a list of the creatures in the d20 Call of Cthulhu book? Specifically, I'm wondering if it includes the "Natives of Yaddith"/"Nug-Soth" in there.

    Dispel Magic vs. multiple summoning

Well then, you're simply contradicting the primary definition that it can "end ongoing spells (or at least their effects) within an area". Dispel magic says it ends spells within an area. You're saying that it ends spells not within the area. You're contradicting the written text with your...

    Dispel Magic vs. multiple summoning

It's the principal definition of the "area dispel" capacity of dispel magic. Do you disagree that it's a requirement that a spell be within the area to be ended by dispel magic?

    Dispel Magic vs. multiple summoning

... or at least the effect. Which is the only logical possibility in the case where one monster is within the area, and one monster without the area.

Cavalier's code of conduct from Unearthed Arcana

Thor wouldn't have any paladins at all. In D&D, Thor is given an alignment of Chaotic Good, antithetical to the ethical outlook required for paladins. The rest of your post basically expands on this exact idea. (Someone else already said it, but thought I'm emphasize it.)

Ring of Protection vs. Bracers of Armor

As the previous posters said, that's the whole point of the bonus type system. Two "armor bonuses" (plate mail, bracers of armor) do not stack. For additional confirmation, read the paragraph in the PHB under "Armor: Armor Qualities: Armor Bonus", where it uses bracers of armor as an example.

What Happened to '[Insert 1E/2E Spell Name Here]'?

Clerics used to not have summon monster (I was shocked when 3rd Ed. gave it to them at 1st level!). Now you can just cast summon monster II (tiny fiendish viper), or a higher-level version for more or larger snakes, or pick a different monster if you're not chaotic or evil.

    Non-stacking bonuses, and penalties

(B). Total bonus: +1. Total penalty: -1. End result: +0. For reference, look in the PHB Glossary under "modifier".

    Dispel Magic vs. multiple summoning

You can end spells within an area (A), or at least their effects within an area (B). For our summon monster example, it can't be (A), because the entire spell is not within the area. Therefore it must be (B), you end the effects within the area. In the case of summon monster, that's "Effect...
