    Why OD&D Is Still Relevant

Bless it for starting things off. I could cobble together a far better game with the same design goals on a lazy Sunday afternoon. We all could.

Is TOMB OF HORRORS the Worst Adventure Of All Time?

Even as a tournament style module I think it sucks. It's full of trial and error death. The dungeon design is wonky. There isn't anything intresting in it that isn't a "gotcha you died!"

    D&D 4E Three general 4e mechanics questions.

This thread is from 2008. I think he probably figured it out.

Being sued. Paying for a lawyer, court costs, paying out damages, paying WotC's court costs, losing whatever time/money/work from the act of having to be in court, etc.

Good luck with that. I'm working on recutting all the old Beatles albums.

    D&D 5E (2014) Armor: damage reduction

Everyone in armor would be a bit tougher. Really tweaked out heavy armor guys might end up too tough. Everyone in armor has to do an extra step of subtraction when they take damage which will slow things down a bit. The damage reduction will get progressively less useful as you level up...

D&D 5E (2014) To fudge or not to fudge: that is the question

It's always interesting to see where people draw lines of gaming principle.

    Failing Forward

Nope, sorry to disappoint you. Rescuing the kid and his mother were optional. It only even came up because one player decided to go snooping on his own. The idea that FF is only useful in a Railroad is total crap.

    Failing Forward

Last session the Paladin wanted to kick open a door. He rolled a 1. I could have said "Nope, you bounce off the door and look like an idiot. The door is fine. Try again." Instead, I ruled that the Paladin blasted through the door like the Kool-Aid Man and knocked out cold the little boy who...

D&D 5E (2014) Limiting use of cantrips - what are the consequences?

Interestingly, fighters can swing their swords all-day without penalty.

D&D 5E (2014) Limiting use of cantrips - what are the consequences?

If you aren't having numerous combats in a day, why are cantrips an issue?

    D&D 5E (2014) Not liking Bounded Accuracy

Tweak the numbers around. Add in Bounded Accuracy to damage and hp too.

    D&D 5E (2014) Not liking Bounded Accuracy

It's a good idea not implemented well.

D&D 5E (2014) Do Classes Have Concrete Meaning In Your Game?

I don't agree, at least in terms of calling your character the name of another class that it isn't a part of. Want to call your sorcerer a dragon shaman? Sure. A wizard? Not unless you're lying.
