D&D 5E (2024) Alternate GOO Warlock Patron Ideas

Aliens from Outer Space, if that's a thing that works in your setting? Maybe some aliens that allow you access to psionic power in exchange for you basically observing the world, possibly to prepare for official "First Contact", invasion, or just studies. Maybe you get some symbiotic graft from...

D&D General Dinosaurs in your campaigns

I an contemplating about at some point running a new campaign set in the Diamond Throne (3E era setting from Monte Cook, Arcane Unearthed/Evolved), and I haven't really made up my mind. But I am thinking about their being an island with some stranger or rarer creatures, among them a Tarrasque...

D&D General Elon Musk Wants To Know 'How Much Is Hasbro?'

Man, Elon Musk's marketing campaign is in full swing. That is the 3rd or 4th Musk headline this week, if I am counting correctly? But I guess it drives up engagement taking about a controversial figure, and that's what we need in our attention economy.

Musk says he'll create an AI Game Studio

I don't think we need an "AI" studio, and it doesn't matter much to me if a game studio is held by a big corporation or by some billionaire. It does bother me to think that a lot of artists work are basically now capitalized on by rich corporations and rich dudes without compensating the artists...

D&D 5E (2024) The Problem with Healing Powercreep

The other nice thing IMO was that you needed a Leader, not a Cleric. If you weren't interested in religious character or wanted to focus on combat with weapons, you could become a Warlord. Or if that wasn't your style, you could pick up your lute.

    D&D 5E (2014) Reducing Power Gaming

I thought the original problem was that player characters gain many powers too fast. That's definitely not something P2E would fix. P2E challege ratings can easily make combats hard, 2-3 levels of difference between player and adversaries make combat a lot harder. But you still get some new...

D&D General Does WotC use its own DMG rules?

You mean they gave what they were doing a fancy name? I think so. But that doesn't mean it was really a first for D&D and RPGs. Though I haven't played D&D before 3rd Edition, so I don't really know how much of it was already practice in other editions.

    Eric Noah's 3rd Edition Website

I am not that old to only know it is a website. I joined it when it was already a forum website, and 3E had been released for a while. Long enough for my then-newly joined and now-long-defunct gaming group to pick up the rules and started playing it.

    D&D 3.x The 4E We Didnt Get.

IIRC, bad saves where 1/3 your level and good saves were 1/2 your level +2. Also, Fighters automatically fail all Fortitude Saves against save or die effects. You still get to roll and all, but we all know how it ends. :(

D&D 5E (2024) Do players really want balance?

I dunno, ultimately balance might just be a way to achieve something they want. I think most players want the feeling that they contribute to the game they take part in it. That can however be subjective, some people "need" to be more in the spotlight to enjoy the game than others, for example...

D&D 5E (2024) The Problem with Healing Powercreep

I think that isn't as good as answer as you might think. If you can't heal in combat, at least with an ablative hit point system, is that you know that you still can take X hits before you're in real danger. So there isn't a lack of tension until the very end, where suddenly you might be dead...

    So, is it any good?

    Favorite Superhero TTRPG

Torg. Okay, not really, but that is the closest to a superhero system I actually played. All storm knights have a bit of superheroic abiltiies thanks to their possibilities and coming from realms with access to different levels of technology and magic, and Terra's pulp heroes specifically can...

    What makes a TTRPG tactical?

I like the definition of a game as a series of interesting decisions, and would say that "tactical combat" is applying this to the combat scale. In some cases, the interesting decision might just be: Do we fight or not? - in a game with tactical combat, the stuff during the combat also has a lot...

Electric Car Ownership - Any Experiences?

I have no idea how much more common it is for German apartments is to have a parking spot linked to. Germans like to complain, so our drivers are of course all horrible, except myself of course, but I strongly suspect German drivers are indeed better than Americans. Our driving license...

Electric Car Ownership - Any Experiences?

That will be an issue for a while but over time, landlords will upgrade properties with charging options, just as they at some point had to ensure running water, electricity and internet connectivity over the years. IIRC, German law already makes it difficult if not impossible for landlords to...

Trailer TERMINATOR ZERO | Official Trailer | Netflix

Who does even care whether the planet exists or that nature goes on? it would be terrible if we destroyed it - to us. The planet, the sun, the universe, they'll move on, uncaring for anything. Whether we kill only off ourselves or all life on this planet - the only ones currently that wax...

If you want it to stack with Mage Armor and Shield, a deflection bonus might be the best fit.

    Spoilers Alien: Romulus (Spoilers)

The last 15 minutes it really felt like they wanted too much. I would have been fine with a bit of alien: redux and sequel bait rather than super-fast alien life cycle here. But the movie does really takes and uses its time well to introduce the world and the characters, set the stakes, and has...

Spoilers Star Wars: The Acolyte [Spoilers]

No ,they were trained as Jedi, who act as investigators, warriors, philosophers and apparently even researchers (which is what they were doing on the planet). What are you going to push hard on? We know practically nothing about the Jedi Order in the OT! Basically Obi Wan, Yoda and Anakin (aka...
