    A D&D 3.5 MMORPG

I have no hard data. Merely the fact that FR has a far larger fan base due to the old SSI games, the old NWN game on AOL, and the fact that FR has been out for far, far longer. I'm sure that Eberron defenders could leap out and point out that X from Eberron outsold Y from FR, but when you get...

    A D&D 3.5 MMORPG

Looking at the complaints about the MMORPG leaping out of an alley and hacking the RPG industry to death with a pawn shop machete, I began thinking about a D&D MMORPG. Remember the old NWN on AOL? It was pretty successful. A lot of fun (I played it for years, had an absolute blast) was had...

Ryan Dancey speaks - the Most Successful Year for Fantasy RPGaming ever. However...

QFT. Hasbro (and TSR before them) seem to have NO DAMN CLUE how software markets work. Remember the eTools fiasco? Geez, what a dog. And the new Eberron game, that's supposed to be a MMORPG? Do they REALLY think it'll compete? If the past examples of Hasbro software is any guess, you'll be...

What is wrong (and right) in the RPG Industry?

I have my own thoughts on the subject, and I'd like to hear from many of you. We're constantly hearing, about every 3-6 months, that something new has spelled the end for the RPG industry. Be it lowered distribution/retailer openings, or 3rd party PDF publishers stalking Wizards employees with...

Ryan Dancey speaks - the Most Successful Year for Fantasy RPGaming ever. However...

The above is about as relative. For RPG's to compete with CRPG's is like Schwinn competing with Intel. They make different things, appeal to different audiences, require a different infrastructure, and are used in different ways. Many posters here have gone over the differences between RPG's...

Mearls' Latest Thought on the Industry

Ah yes, the obligatory "PDF PUBLISHERS ARE TEH EVUL AND RUINING D&D" statement. With distributors and retailers closing the door, ceasing to carry print products not done by WotC, and now the "WoW IS GOING TO KILL D&D" scare, it's all the PDF publishers fault, of course. PDF is supposedly...

    Ravenloft anyone?

Hey, that rings a bell... Didn't it have a bunch of NPC's in it too?

Would you allow this paladin in your game? (new fiction added 11/11/08)

And this relates to the above Paladin suggestion how? In a world where Gods are real, show up before thier congregations, battle with one another, and bestow thier divine favor and grace, it's pretty positive that there would be little or no murky areas. You would know for a FACT whether or not...

    Adventurers under siege

Morale. Never forget morale. If you can break the siegers morale, the PC's will have a better chance.

    Energy Weapons VS Ballistic Weapons

I, for one, would definately be interested, pbartender.

D&D mega-campaign with all the options turned on?

They took combat reflexes, Up the Walls, and other stuff. I can't remember how exactly it was done, but they were wrecking machine's more than once when they could both flank someone, usually by shooting up and over the walls. Add in spring attack, and it was a lethal mess. It was OK, they...

Fiction, rules, or setting first in a core book?

I like the fiction to be scattered in the book, relevant to the section it precedes. The setting data should be in one location, with the rules for the setting placed neatly within it. I don't care which comes first, but I do like a setting synopsis in the first chapter. And the fiction...

D&D mega-campaign with all the options turned on?

Steve: One thing you need to do is set a limitation up front. PrC's can only be learned from those who are part of the PrC "group" or are at least 5 levels higher than the PC. This will allow you to curb the half dragon dragon disciple vow of poverty monk/socerer. And doublecheck EVERY...

Proactive Players in a Reactive Campaign

Here's a perfect example: In the campaign I'm running, they're all 8-9th level. They bought an old church that was rumored to be haunted, cleared it, got building permits, and hired laborers from a different ward of the city to do the construction work. Pretty soon they started getting thier...

Proactive Players in a Reactive Campaign

My wife and I recently moved to another state, and found a new gaming group. Previously we had played with the same group for five years. Everything from Rifts to Shadowrun to Traveller to 2E to d20 Modern to 3.0 and finally 3.5. Everyone had taken turns GMing, if nothing else so they could see...

D&D mega-campaign with all the options turned on?

If you can GM Rifts with all the options turned on, you can GM D&D with all the options turned on. Personally, I find running D&D with all the options easier than Rifts. But that's just me.

    Adventurers under siege

I've done it repeatedly. A lot of player's play Paladin's or Legionairres (Stygian Wave or Iron Legion) to get some extra skills that can help with what they see as an eventual siege. From forting up in a half-ruined building and holding off waves of undead/kobolds/elven...

Would you allow this paladin in your game? (new fiction added 11/11/08)

I'd allow him. As long as you made him a Paladin of Lust. Personally, I don't care about RAW, or whatever. It's an interesting background and character, the Goddess of Lust needs Paladins to protect her temples and worshippers and holy places. So yeah, you'd be in.

    Ravenloft anyone?

Thank you kindly, and I'll see you there. Same name.
