We've been told that defenses and attack bonuses go up at 1 for every 2 levels. So there's your fix. We've also been told that the SAGA system was simple because that fits Star Wars, but that D&D will have more detail. So expect some extra skill options.

I think it's safe to say, no, there will not be skill points. Probably other options to increase the overall bonus, but nothing as detailed and prone to error as the skill point system of 3E.
