Provide an example of when FLUFF overrided > Crunch

Not really; on the other hand, if on my turn I'd used Acrobatics to tumble out of the reach of the ogre, then "The ogre's club hits you and sends you flying, but you manage to adjust and land on your feet" would be a cool example of crunch informing the fluff. In short, I determine what the...

Provide an example of when FLUFF overrided > Crunch

Pretty much. It went (paraphrasing), DM: "The ogre hits you for ... roll, roll, roll ... X damage. Heh, that's kind of a lot. Are you even still standing?" Me: "Yep. Jonath's pretty tough." DM: "Oh. You sure? Okay, well, uh, the hit was so strong it knocks you flying from your feet...

Provide an example of when FLUFF overrided > Crunch

And, from my opinion, those "rules" suck and are the primary cause of crappy DMing throughout the years. I'm a pretty good DM. My group likes when I DM; we rotate, and I always get asked back into the head chair. I don't need to throw out rules and futz with this fluff-overriding-crunch BS to...

    Too many TPKs?

Insert quotes from Mort on why this doesn't always work out so well. Thanks for writing my responses for me, Mort! Well, when the vast majority of enemies has 30' or better movement rates (and often nonstandard movement types, as well), and you've got a dwarf, halfling, or heavy-armor-wearer...

Provide an example of when FLUFF overrided > Crunch

Really. Not in games where we have rules that determine whether and how far you can toss around your targets. After all, I'm a uncannily dextrous elven swashbuckler. I don't get to narrate that the ogre missed me just because of that fact any more than the DM gets to narrate that he threw me...

    Ironward crystal and mithril armor?

You're right; I forgot that the crystals were special, and just checked the Barbarian class's DR. :D

    Ironward crystal and mithril armor?

It counts as light armor for class abilities that only work when wearing light armor, etc. For purposes of proficiency, I believe it still counts as medium armor (but I can't recall exactly what the final ruling was there). The augment crystal should work fine - but remember that the DR won't...

Ability scores - How intrinsic are they to D&D?

Good point. I'll ammend my comment to, "3E never, and 3.5E, until the very end of its lifespan as an in-print product, did not do Dex-based melee well. PF still does not (and, in fact, has gone backwards in many regards vs. 3.5E)."

Not really, no. Requires a specific standard action, a Reflex save, only goes 10', only does 1d6 points of damage. Standard ogres don't qualify for it. It was totally done as an after-the-fact, "Hey, this should totally happen" maneuver.

    D&D 3.x 3.5e: Double Weapon

Water Breathing Dispelled while character is underwater, drowning or drowned?

Yes, that's what I'm asking for a citation on. The effect of the spell is: It's a transmutation. "You grow gills" is just as valid an interpretation of how the spell works as "your lungs can pull oxygen from water."

Ability scores - How intrinsic are they to D&D?

... but only rarely damage rolls. And, additionally, the weapons which allowed you to use your Dex bonus to attack were sub-par vs. the Str-based ones, including the realm of Power Attack effectiveness. No, 3E (and PF) do not do Dex-based melee combatants well.

Provide an example of when FLUFF overrided > Crunch

In one game I was playing, as a swashbuckling rogue-fighter, the DM decided that when an ogre hit me with its club for a substantial, but non-lethal, portion of my hit points, that meant that I got flung across the room and into the wall on the other side. The damage from hitting the wall was...

    WoW Imitates 4e?

Because, and this has been stated in other, similar threads (e.g., why don't players of game X have edition wars?), you aren't paying close enough attention. There are *huge* raging arguments over whether or not Blizzard is selling out to the "casualz," or how Expansion X ruined the game, or...
