    Selling a spellbook

As in, he just wants to copy spells from his current spellbook into the new one, so he has two copies of each available (just in case)? In that case: So, calculate the cost to write into a spellbook all of his current spells (Spell Level squared times 10, 5gp for a cantrip), and cut it in...

Weapon Speeds For d20 Fantasy Gaming

Seriously? How about, "I was involved in a long, fruitful discussion on the probabalistic lethality of the Star Wars d20 Revised ruleset with the editor during the run-up to and after the launch of Saga Edition," "I playtested the 3rd Edition Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting hardcover, and...

New Legends & Lore: Player vs. Character

I'll never understand why "metagaming" is intrinsically a bad word to some people. [And yet, they often have no problems adding that wizard they found in a bar to their party because "he seems a trustworthy fellow." :D ]

Weapon Speeds For d20 Fantasy Gaming

I disagree on that, but we'll come back to it. You misunderstood the question, and I guarantee you that the rules designers did run the numbers for the official rules. My question was not "Is everyone affected?" My question was more along the lines of, "Have you considered the implications...

It could be a composite longbow without a Strength bonus.

For the record, the DM was never really in charge of this game.

Weapon Speeds For d20 Fantasy Gaming

Of course I see it. The dagger will always be +1 AB better on its first iterative, +2 AB better on its second iterative, etc. This is not rocket science to see the pattern. The next question, then, is do you think daggers are inherently more accurate than swords? Should daggers...

Weapon Speeds For d20 Fantasy Gaming

... Yes? Isn't that the point of the speed rules? Because you want faster weapons to have more (and therefore better) iterative attacks? Actually, he looks at levels 1-20 for the particular implementation. Correct. No, he doesn't. He says at level 5, that a dagger has 1 more attack than...

    Selling a spellbook

No, not correct. :D The price of the book is immaterial once you've started putting spells in it. The cost to purchase the spell is not the cost of a scroll of that spell; it's the cost of looking at someone else's book when you copy it. This was confirmed on the Paizo boards, FWIW - it also...

Weapon Speeds For d20 Fantasy Gaming

I think you didn't actually read his article, since he addresses your exact system about 3/4 of the way down under the heading "Adjusting Iterative Attacks." Of course the first attack isn't affected by speed modifiers; that's why it's adjusting iterative attacks.

    Selling a spellbook

Quick question: How many are "all" of the cantrips? Core rulebook? Ultimate Magic? Various regional sourcebooks? Assuming you mean just the core rulebook, the calculation for a spellbook's value is: ( (Ink Charge) + (Viewing Charge) ) * Number of Spells In charges are spell level squared...

Forest of Doom - IC Thread

Jonath Cailan: Jonath watches warily as Keena approaches the window, where she pauses, apparently listening closely. He hisses quietly, attempting to get her attention, and makes a questioning shrug: What's she found? What's the plan?

    Class suggestion help (new player)

Since I like Saga Edition Star Wars, I am completely okay with this. Miss chance doesn't apply vs. a fireball or a color spray, it doesn't apply vs. a shotgun blast (because they're all area-effects).

    Help with Skill, LA, etc.

Basically, when you create a lycanthope, it's like you multiclassed into an animal. :) So, your (human?) Sorc 11 would have two "levels" in Wolf. He'd have a creature type of Humanoid (Human, Shapechanger). He'd have hit points equal to 11d4 (Sorcerer) + 2d8 (Wolf) + Constitution modifier *...

    Help with Skill, LA, etc.

As a DM, LA does not matter to you. LA matters how powerful certain abilities are in the PCs hands. You want CR adjustments, which are how much more powerful certain things make your monsters.
