    Wisdom too powerful?

What about animals? Animals are very, VERY perceptive, but not intelligent.

Does Anyone Find the Encumbrance Amounts Unrealistic?

Don't forget about weight distribution. An item you put on yourself feels less heavy than the same item you hold in your hand. Maybe the rules should assume that carrying capacity is for the total weight of items you wear, while everything you hold temporarily gets its weight doubled. (Or the...

Why I Think Rolling For Hit Points is a Bad Thing

I would like something a bit different. Each class rolls d6 and adds a number based on its original HD. CON grants cumulative advantage or disadv. Wizard 1d6/level Cleric/Rogue 1d6+1/level Fighter 1d6+2/level For each point of CON bonus, roll an extra d6 and choose highest. For each point of...

Why I Think Rolling For Hit Points is a Bad Thing

It might be enormous, it might be not. Depends on the level. At level one, a fighter with 15 hp has a minor advantage over a fighter with 10 hp. At high level, a fighter with 150 hp has indeed a strong advantage over a fighter with 100.

    Spells

For me those walls of text are fine, but vital information should be highlighted. So, for example, a spell that looks like this: should look like this:

    Boring shields

Interesting idea. Could work, but I would have to read the full book first, to see if there are any worthwile shield abilities.

    Boring shields

I did. Penalty from heavy shield+heavy armor stacks for a total of -10 ft.

    Boring shields

I read the shields and it immediately jump out on me how bland they are. Almost an afterthough. My proposal is this: Shields Buckler* Cost AC Weight steel 20gp +0/+1 10 ironwood 80gp +0/+1 5 mithral 600gp +1 5 Light**...

    First Impressions?

If con bonus is an integral part of a roll, I don't see how using averages is simple. It will, after all, produce different results. High HD classes get less from their CON than low HD classes. I hope that this is something that wotc noticed and adjusted power levels of classes accordingly. And...

L&L 5/21 - Hit Points, Our Old Friend

No, the negative hp cusion is useful. It just doesn't need the unconciousness component.

L&L 5/21 - Hit Points, Our Old Friend

Well, in this case the player made a choice and should live with the consequences. No one forced him to crawl at enemy (it makes no sense anyway if he can't make attacks or cast spells). At least the system is giving players a choice right? They wanna be stupid about it, it's fine by me.

L&L 5/21 - Hit Points, Our Old Friend

To me, its a weak argument. Weak, because everything that is being accomplished by having characters at negative hp unconscious can albo be achieved by having them conscious. How? Simple: characters at negative hp are down, can do very little (maybe crawl? certainly not attack or cast spells)...

L&L 5/21 - Hit Points, Our Old Friend

I don't get why is unconsciousness tied to HP? People can be unconscious and healthy, and they can be dying and lucid. I know all (most?) older editions have this rule, but it never made sense to me.

L&L 5/21 - Hit Points, Our Old Friend

Not necessarily. Remember that the fighter has to spend his Hit Dice to heal. We don't know how quickly hit dice are recovered.

[L&L] Balancing the Wizards in D&D

I agree. Ideally, I'd see wants as implements that make casting easier (or stronger), and staffs as spell storage items. Then they'll also add new wands I assume. Or elder, or whatever :p What you're describing are exceptions from general rules (non-casters can't cast from scrolls but rogues...

    Flatter Ability Score Bonuses

I would like that too, with the exception of ability/skill checks. A kingdom's strongest man (STR 18) should not be a 10% better than an average joe (STR 10) at arm wrestling or climbing. Ability and skill checks should use ability value-10 = modifier rule.

D&D 5E (2014) Little suggestion change for abilities in 5E

Changing DCs is probably the easiest thing under the sun. And jump isn't a good example, as it is a very mediocre skill. Even +30 bonus to jump (in 3e) is nothing great to have. Useful, but never game breaking.

Rule of the Three (1st of May)

Looks like the simple feats will be for you. Pick a theme, apply 3 or 4 static bonuses to some actions or defenses, and you're done.

D&D 5E (2014) Little suggestion change for abilities in 5E

I posted some time ago a similar idea, but with a twist. Each ability score produces essentially two modifiers. One is small and used for big, powerful abilities and effects. Other is larger and is used for skills and checks. The small bonus is +1 per three or four points of ability score, so a...
