    Edition Cycles and declining sales

I understand. I am not a big fan of having to connect to WotC to install the program. I would much preferr something else like license keys or whatever. It is not like their model has stopped "those versions" of the program from happening and more than a license key.

    Edition Cycles and declining sales

It doesn't matter what it says. There is as much chance of WotC blowing up the entire world to get rid of every last reminant of an old edition as them deleting things off of a computer. The Amazon kindle is totally different, and Amazon took a lot of grief for it as well - and it was a...

    Edition Cycles and declining sales

"Everything" does not go away. It stays on your computer, and even on youor backups. The only thing that may go away is the compendium and the updates to the programs. I highly doubt WotC is going to delete the contents of thing installed on your computer.

    Is the math off?

You may not mean it that way, but it is language like this, that does not go over well with some of us. You have basically said that we are wrong, if we do not choose the feats you think we should have, or we are somehow playing wrong.

    Edition Cycles and declining sales

I think that the way out is what WotC is trying - DDI. It smooths out the revenue stream - especially if a significant number of people pay monthly instead of yearly. It also garantees that subscribers will pay for (cost wise) about 3 books a year (if we assume that Amazon prices are near...

    Is the math off?

What about another option, one that seems, in my view, more likely: WotC seems to have been making efforts to change some of the critisims of 4E - for good or bad. The PHB2 classes seem, on average better and more have a more complex build than the PHB1 classes. Some PHB2 powers and feats seem...

    Is the math off?

Yea, that is it. I was remembering 2 different powers and getting the stats mixed up.

    Is the math off?

Of course, the meaning behind that was I don't want to have the game so balanced that the assumption is I always hit a roll of <x> on a 20 sided. the dissagreement with me is I think that the play in the number is not as high as people are making it out to be, in play. It is higher when you...

    Is the math off?

Then I guess the question is - does it matter in game play? I think not. Others may disagree.

[Those who like 4ed] What has been lost?

My biggest complaint about 4E, that was taken away is the real magic items. It may just be me, but magic items do not seem very special to me. Most in my group feel the same way. I feel that the item use per day is the most horrible thing that is in the rules.

    Is the math off?

I am talking about Astral Sea (or something like that) it targets WILL not AC. There is also at least 1 other power (I am sure there are more) that is an encounter power that gives the entire party a bonus (not sure how much). You can also assume (which I think you did) that everyone can get...

    Is the math off?

Where did I say the whole party? Where in the disuccssion, besides the +2 from the leader after it was pointed out, is it discussed about teamwork? Did we also forget that an Ancient Red Dragon has a Reflex score of 5 less than their AC and a Will score of 6 less? How about the Tarrasque has...

    Is the math off?

I am not talking about the entire party. A cleric, can do that every round, at will (as long as they hit). Again, the game is not played in a vacuum. Almost every round, in my games, there is a bonus or penalty that is applied somewhere, and it is more than +2 at 1st level. That are also...

    Is the math off?

Your way off on your leader bonus. Most of the tiem, the bonus is the leaders primary stat. At that level, the bonus will be much higher, probably around +6 or more. I expect Epic level to be harder. I am glad that it is that way.

    Is the math off?

Has that 70% of the time miss factored in teamwork bonuses? At level 1, my 1/2 orc Cleric can add +3 to hit on a character of my choosing, at will. IMO, it works, and I like that way it works. I don't want a 12 to hit a rat at 1st level, and a 12 to hit Orcus when I am at 30th. I am OK...

what is the diff between optimized and not??

IME, the the problem is that the most optimized person is also the person who get's upset when people make decisions that they would not have made during game play (and in character generation), and having a problem "losing" in anything game related.

what is the diff between optimized and not??

The same as me... the same as me. I don't want D&D to turn into a WoW raid with every player "inspecting" my gear and spec. To me, this is what sets PnP games apart from that. I loath DPS calculcations for PnP games. It makes them unfun to me.

what is the diff between optimized and not??

I don't agree with that at all. IME, optimised makes easier fights, or the DM can throw harder things at you for harder fights. I am glad none of this happens in any of my groups at all. IME, this is a carry over from MMOs, as I had not seen these problems so widespread until alot of people...

My new DIY portable digital tabletop roleplaying map!

That is a very cool setup. I am thinking about doing something similiar in design, although I have a dedicated game room where the projector can be mounted above the game table. What software are you using for the maps? (Creation and display)

    Things that WOW didn't invent

I agree (somewhat) but I am only referring to popularity. There are lots of people, that do not like PVP. The game was built for PVP. They have limited their user base just with this alone. For the record, the best PVP I have ever done was with DaoC. I played WAR, but my friends are not...
