    Big Props for Erik Mona

Actual thought: "Wow, he got given props by Orcus? Very good credentials, that." Then I read the thread. But.

    D&D 4E Women in 4E

D&D already became anime. Ever heard of "Lodoss War"?

    D&D 4E Women in 4E

Oh, incidentally. So not true. Happened to me more than once!

    D&D 4E Women in 4E

IME, many D&D damsels in distress are male. ("Rescue Zenith Splintershield!") I mean, seriously, I can't even fault D&D for being heterocentric, as I can name several contrary instances.

    D&D 4E Women in 4E

So I have to admit that I have never gotten a very anti-women vibe from D&D. In fact, usually quite the opposite. ("Wait, there's a dwarven chick who's one of the pirate kings? Awesome!") But then I also don't pay a lot of attention to the art, so.

    New Design: Wizards...

I suspect that metamagic will move from the characters into the items. Think a "+1 lesser empowering orb" or something similar.

Critical Computer Question---related to D&D Digital

50-50 chance. No virtualization software currently supports DirectX 9 -- they do support DirectX 8.1, but the DDI client is DX9. By banking on this, you are essentially betting that Parallels and/or VMWare Fusion will support DX9 by next year. I would not be surprised if this is the case, but...

D&D Game Table not Mac-Compatible at launch

So here's a possibly wild idea: Is there any reason for them not to open up the source for the client and give away the documentation for the web services and so on? In all seriousness, the Mac software development community would probably jump on something like this and release a freeware...

    D&D 3.x The design processes from 2e to 3e, 3 to 3.5, and 3e to 4e.

I just hope that information doesn't get lost. I'd gladly pay extra for a Directory's Commentary version of the PHB/MM/DMG with design documentation and good advice for designing on your own.

    Eberron: no sexism

I like to think that warforged marriage is a big controversy in Eberron.

Thinking About Moving to FUDGE at Epic Level

Just an informative addition -- you might want to look at the game Mortal Coil, as I've been doing, as it may better fit the campaign-which-is-unnamed-but-which-I-infer-is-the-difficulty. Essentially it seems to be shared world creation with a diceless resource-based task resolution mechanic.

    Planescape: The Perfect MMO Setting?

I've been wanting this one since forever. I can already imagine the Great Modron March quest series.

    Heroes Fall

Somewhat along the lines of the "aging heroes" thread, I've vaguely entertained the notion of a sort of Lupin the Third feel -- that everyone's sort of an old-timer and after a big adventure everyone parts ways, and then when some great danger or adventure comes along again, you start off with...

    Familiars, Useful?

In our game, we stole a concept off of His Dark Materials and said that familiars are actually a manifestation of a part of the arcane caster's soul given physical form. This tends to make the idea of losing a familiar seem much less trivial than it actually is -- plus it gives the familiar...

Thinking About Moving to FUDGE at Epic Level

FUDGE is fun, but it annoys me somewhat that the philosophy many FUDGE folks have is that rolling a +0 total on your dice should happen very often. It has the tendency to reduce the amount of tension one has about the outcome of a situation. That said, I absolutely love FATE 3.0's Aspect...

    Young dragon vs trapped PCs

I'm with the Auld Grump -- with a roughly equivalent CR the party should be fine. One thing you may wish to keep in mind is that the dragon is young, and therefore probably overconfident. If you want to make it slightly easier, you might have the dragon spend his surprise action attempting to...

What Game Rules should be my alternate for WotC products?

Now that is certainly not true. Oh, right. I've been getting into Spirit of the Century lately; it's certainly worth looking into.

Pathfinder 1E Paizo no longer publishing Dungeon and Dragon

Not to paint anybody in a negative light, but I have to admit that I'm definitely getting that feeling of sick realization much like when you realize that your fellow party member has one eye and is missing one hand and is named "Vance". Just the sudden confluence of WotC looking into online...
