    [Non-Americans] Are the stereotypes true?

True - but we also played M&M, which can occasionally get bogged down by rules (OK not often!). And that was exactly the same, no bogging down in evidence. :D

    Hive: Musings about Crothian

Hi folks: I can't connect to Randomling's House either right now. :( I can however log into the host site, which unfortunately isn't telling me very much. We're all paid up till the 18th of February with stacks of bandwidth to spare, so I can only assume it's a temporary server glitch - there's...

    [Non-Americans] Are the stereotypes true?

I'm British, and I personally hate it when the rules get in the way of a good story or RPing opportunity. :) That said, I've had some of my most anal-retentive, rules-lawyerish play experiences with British players, and some of my most cool, exciting and not-obstructed-by-the-rules games were...

how to hit on girls without being creepy?

I think one of the issues here is that there are some guys around who feel a sense of entitlement on the basis of having asked you out, and if it's a (total) stranger it's difficult to tell the difference. In fact, if a total stranger approaches to ask me for a date, I tend to think they are...

A science question for all of you...

Four base pairs, either four or sixteen (four times four) "basic" personality types, four humours (blood, phlegm, yellow bile, black bile), four elements (earth, fire, air, water). Any more fours that either are now or were at one point key to understanding the world as we know it? I'm coming...

    What are your goals?

The big one, currently, is to stop being a financial burden on my parents. That means either dropping out of college or getting my dissertation done in record time. Find a job I enjoy and make money doing it. Get back to volunteering with young people, preferably the 13-19 age group...

    Hey, Randomlingers...

Good to see everyone's so happy that the boards are back up! :D One odd issue we seem to be having is that the "new post" icon isn't working. It throws a 404 error, and it's not linking to the /forum subsection of the site. Anybody else having this problem or is it just me? (People's avatars...

    Hey, Randomlingers...

Glad to know the Forge is all right. Looks like we should be OK too. In any case, I'll know within half an hour or so. And thanks, Henry! Y'know, you should stop by, sometime. :)

    Hey, Randomlingers...

Thanks, Darkness. It looks like that's what we've been hit with here. Does anybody happen to know if it affects the database or just goes in and affects files? I'm not sure, and I'd hate to think we'd lost posts or files, although it doesn't look like we have.

    Hey, Randomlingers...

All right, folks, here's what's going on: The good news: it doesn't look like the database was affected, so once I get the boards uploaded once again, we shouldn't find any lost data or persistent problems with the boards unless there's something I'm missing. The bad news: I still have no idea...

    What ails you?

I have polycystic ovarian syndrome, which is a hormone imbalance that gives me excessive hair all over the place, and contributes to my weight problems and possibly my depression as well. I'm overweight. I've never been diagnosed with clinical depression, but I've been dealing with a severe lack...

[Hivemind]- Mary had a little lamb...

Comfortably Numb: Hello. Is there anybody in there? Just nod if you can hear me. Is there anyone home? Come on, now. I hear you’re feeling down. Well I can ease your pain, Get you on your feet again. Relax. I need some information first. Just the basic facts: Can you show me where it hurts...

[Hivemind]- Mary had a little lamb...

I have lots of concentration problems too, and some memory problems too, so I can relate there, although I'm pretty sure mine is down to depression rather than ADD (I certainly manifest a lot more depression symptoms than ADD symptoms). I'd be a hypocrite telling you to go right to the doctor...

[Hivemind]- Mary had a little lamb...

Jason, I know exactly how you feel. I go through "I'm tired of being me" phases about twice a week. :) I understand that doing nothing with your life is frustrating. But listen - I remember you were diagnosed with diabetes recently, and I think that's a positive step because it's one more thing...
