What options have you regreted allowing in your game?

I had a player join a game that was already near the end, and I mistakenly said, "make a character, Core+Complete" it was a low magic game, and the party was hunting down a necromancer. The player in question made a Sorcerer, with Sudden Maximize and Sudden Empower. Didn't tell me. (I had 8...

NEW Immortals Handbook - Ascension thread

To me, Annihilation damage isn't that big of a deal, and +25-36 sounds about right. All it does is mean foes can't stall with healing spells and that damaged foes are more likely to have downtime. It doesn't mean you deal any MORE damage, so foes take the same amount of effort to kill, it just...

    Societies and Alignment Detection

I think this thread is a cool adventure or campaign idea. A City/country/society, with the means do do so, Implements an "evil detection policy" where all it's citizens are constantly scrutinized by city officials, and if they detect as evil/chaotic/whatever, they are marked on some official...

    Confused Customer

Well, that would be unlikely. In a universe where the Demiurge has already ascended to Timelord Status, if another entity gains enough power to become a Demiurge itself, the Original Timelord probably just lays the smack down on it before it can do so. Timelords are so absurdly powerful the...

    Confused Customer

U_K can probably clarify better than I can, but here goes: Aeon = Timelord (or Timelord/Highlord equivalent entity) Timelords are the personification and will of an entire universe, while Highlords are composed of 2 or more universes. Demiurge - Entities who are similar to Timelords in that...

    B09S displaced Fey-book or Giant-book

I would prefer the Giant book to the fey book. Fey in D20 are weak, and while I would prefer them to get some supplements, Giants, with their Ecology, Society, etc, can be a bit more campaign centric than fey, which I see as more of one-off adventure or encounter material. I know there is more...

I think you read the wrong column of table 4-1. He would be able to get an artifact worth 8 Feats.

Immortals Handbook - Epic Bestiary (Epic Monster Discussion)

I think deities are just immune to mundane environmental effects. The Plutonium Golem's powers are creature abilities, and thusly he is not immune. (Otherwise one could argue that creatures are 'natural' and other garbage)

Immortals Handbook - Epic Bestiary (Epic Monster Discussion)

It might make sense given the amount of damage caused, but a Timelord, a being who IS a Universe, Could potentially be torn appart by a 'cube'. (Now, if that cube was from the Timelord's own universe, it won't work, but if another timelord has a bunch of them...)

Immortals Handbook - Epic Bestiary (Epic Monster Discussion)

Heh, this 'cube' concept really hit it off. Perhaps we should string together Golem Categories for more size categories. (Not too many are really needed, but with the hit die scaling and different powers, it could help 'fill in' CR gaps for epic level encounters since some golems will get...

Immortals Handbook - Epic Bestiary (Epic Monster Discussion)

Hehe, so now 'cube' has become the next stage in Golem evolution. Ok, lets just go to the extreme now: Plutonium Cube. Neutronium Cube. :) And no, there is no logical reason to make the cube a labyrinth, but theres also no reason to seal ancient artifacts away in a typical D&D labyrinth either...

Immortals Handbook - Epic Bestiary (Epic Monster Discussion)

Sort of simple: The outside is a monster. Attacking it from the outside = normal combat against a monster. Inside the thing is a bit trickier. I found this to be an interesting monster/dungeon/adventure idea and gave it some thought. Ever see the "aptly named" movie, The Cube? (or one of it's...

Immortals Handbook - Epic Bestiary (Epic Monster Discussion)

Ok, here goes: Tractor Beam (Su): Once per round, as a standard action, the Orichalcum cube may attempt a ranged touch attack at +29872 to hit against any foe within 17.5 miles. If this touch attack hits, they foe must make an opposed strength check with the Orichalcum Cube or be pulled 1250 ft...

Immortals Handbook - Epic Bestiary (Epic Monster Discussion)

This Cube monster sounds interesting. Since it is effectively too large for a human-sized being to fight, it could be treated as a dungeon. Since it can reconfigure itself (think the Alien vs Preadator movie) it could be one heck of an epic adventure trying to reach the "core" and disable it...

Immortals Handbook - Epic Bestiary (Epic Monster Discussion)

(For the record, in case it caused confusion, I was speaking of resurrecting a deity who had been slain on his home turf) I agree with you two. On the issue of Resonance especially. (Since it is tied to some situational conditions that generally resolve themselves if you die) Worship, however...

Immortals Handbook - Epic Bestiary (Epic Monster Discussion)

Well, since a deity's 'real body' is the embodiment of it's divine essence, destroying it should AT LEAST dissipate the deity's quintessence. This means that any dead god brought back to life won't be a god, thusly you cannot resurrect a deity. This might even entail the destruction of that...

NEW Immortals Handbook - Ascension thread

I don't think there is a solution to this discussion. We each have our own ideas of epic play just as we have our own play styles. As a GM, if you don't want the fighters hitting on a 2+, just add 10 to their total to hit attack bonus, and pick a monster with about that much AC. (or make one...

    Deathbed Speeches

While it hasn't needed to happen yet, I ran this idea by my group: If you go from alive (>1 Hp) to dead (-10 hp or worse) in one hit, if you have a Charisma Modifier of +0 or better, you may give one 'round' of a death-bed speech, plus one round per point of charisma bonus. During this time, no...

NEW Immortals Handbook - Ascension thread

Pssthpok has a pretty strong point. The MBSS abilities are lopsided as of now. The ones that grant +Rank are grossly inferior to the +Ability ones. They really need to be ALL either +Ability or +Rank. (Although I think all +Ability powers gets out of control fast, its the only way to keep the...

    Is Ascencion Available for purchase?

Yea, its not quite done yet. Getting there... I think having to stick with an update schedule helped U_K stay focused, (Probably to the point of burnout) But I can't speak for the man. It certainly was cool seeing some of the elements of the book evolve over time. I think U_K misjudged how much...
