    Darkvision and mirrors?

I think what he was trying to say is that See Invisibility lets you see anything invisible. On the surface of the mirror would be the 'reflection' of the person who is invisible. But since he is, indeed, invisible, there is no reflection. There is nothing invisible on the mirror to see.

Immortals Handbook - Epic Bestiary (Epic Monster Discussion)

Aww hell, if you just wanted to scare your PCs paradox42, then all you had to do was say so. Nothing says "fear of the overgods" like an Paradimensional Cyclopean Quantum Vampire. As for the discussion: Since running epic games takes quite a bit of math and planning and weighting encounters...

Immortals Handbook - Epic Bestiary (Epic Monster Discussion)

Snide comments aside, U_K is probably right on his math, even if forcing one of your artifacts to be a Cloak of Resistance is undesirable. Assuming the PC and the Monster have equal HD/stats/save/ability boosts, the PC should always need an "8" to save if his or her High save is targeted, or a...

Building my first 3rd-edition wizard. What are the essentials?

Well, one advantage of playing a direct-damage type is that you play along the same lines as the fighter-types. If you do well, they do well, and vice versa. Playing most other types, like a save-or-dead/petrified/held/polymorphed-into-squirrel/etc specialist is that as you get high level, you...

Immortals Handbook - Epic Bestiary (Epic Monster Discussion)

Answer: Very carefully. :) (It's CR is probably wrong, but I think with fair warning and preparation a level 21 Party could beat it. I have seen similar level parties defeat a Hecatonchieres...)

    New/Revised Prestige Classes

Flexibility does seem to be the safest thing to bet on with rogue. It helps them quite a bit, because there other two sticking points (Sneak Attack and trap skills) are mutually exclusive in most adventures. IE 'Most' people don't trap their own homes (kobolds might, but they have ways of...

    A question about Weapon Pluses

1 - A Weapon must be at least '+1' to have the Holy property. (By RAW) 2 - The Holy property is a +2 equivalent bonus for determining the market value of the weapon. It does not add +2 to the enhancement bonus. This means the weapon counts as +2 higher for determining it's value and cost to...

    Version 5 Excel Machine

I just checked it out. It works quite nicely. Oh, one thing: Why are the buttons to expand a category below that category? It makes it appear as if they apply to the one below.

Freedom of Movement vs. Mummy Despair

One of those cases where if they had been more specific on how Despair works it wouldn't be a problem. Personally, I don't think FoM is effective against Despair. FoM normally protects you from effects that restrict your body's movement, but Despair locks up your mind, making it impossible to...

Need help with new PrC: "The Keeper of Scrolls"

Perhaps they can cast any spell on any scroll, and have a small chance (5% per class level) that the scroll does not lose it's magic powers and can be used again. (It might takes some time to determine if the scroll is still usable) Perhaps they have no spellcasting progression themselves, but...

    General problem with saves?

Well to be fair, a PC should be able to make most saves: If they don't, their lifespan will probably be pretty short. Nothing angers a player more than losing a character over a single die roll. ("Oh, looks like you fail the climb check so badly you fall off the cliff into the lava... Falling...

    New/Revised Prestige Classes

The only thing odd about barbarian illiteracy is that since it comes with taking your first level in barbarian, it is different than most every class feature. Heck, unless you really want to rage at 1st level (a huge boon if used intelligently) its better to go one level in Fighter first. But...

    New/Revised Prestige Classes

I completely agree on this point. 3E/3.5 lost touch with what the original concept of a prestige class was: Giving up general abilities and focusing on a more narrow set of abilities. The problem with 3E/3.5 is that almost none of the PRCs printed in the last 5 years or so follow that ideal...

Fooling players who have memorized the MM

You can change the feat selection of a monster in such a way as to change its tactics quite a bit. Or, the easiest way, is just to make the ecology of the monster seem so different the players don't know what they are fighting. If I said there was a small horde of small flesh-eating...

NEW Immortals Handbook - Ascension thread

So... About that next update... :) How is the art coming along? I understand it is a lengthy process, but there's been this awkward void between updates. No rush or anything, just wondering how the artwork was coming along. Your artwork has this old-school style to it that I quite like...

    New/Revised Prestige Classes

Also, I must point out that the Roar ability can cause a bit of ridiculousness. While it does take your whole turn to use, it causes Frightened, which makes the foe run away if they can. 5% chance Dr. Death the necromancer runs away. 5% chance a Dragon flees. Etc. Perhaps it should only affect...

    New/Revised Prestige Classes

Ok, just took a look at the revised barbarian... I must say, while it was a bit weaker starting off (but less front loaded) the class itself is awesome! The summon ancestor ability is cool (but it needs clarifying as to just what stats and equipment the ancestors have) though I recommend there...

Need help with Shambling mounds and Treant combat techniques

I think by the rules as written, the shambling mound can theoretically get a million Constitution or more. Just watch out for players who Shapechange into one and spam Electric Jolt on themselves. Yes, a treant can pretty much destroy anything. Note that this also extends to the two trees it...

    New/Revised Prestige Classes

Well, it does seem much more potent. For what it is worth, I think levels 9 & 17 could use some thing; Dead levels were the reason people 1, 2, or 4-dipped in fighter. Perhaps granting leadership for free at 9th, and something really, really strong at 17th. (when casters start getting 9th level...

    A multitude of disliked races

I allow the PHB races, but currently not half orc, as in the setting I am currently running there are no orcs on the current continent. (but possibly else ware) I would allow many of the crazy elven subraces (gray elves, wild elves, etc) but not drow. (Again, not currently present in setting) If...
