Do your players hate your house rules?

The only real house rule I implemented was a D% Wound table, ala' Hackmaster, but consulted every time someone is wounded (some exceptions apply, such as damage forms that don't allow a save or attack roll and can't be avoided, like magic missile). Since I brought it up as optional at first, and...

    Monster Revisions

Agreed. There is definitely a cut off point where danger X (such as high strength) matters little if the PCs possess ability Y. Example: Pit Traps. Pointless if the PCs can fly. Granted, they can be dangerous again when combined with other hazards (such as Anti-magic) but generally they...

    D&D 3.x ToB: Bo9S - Nifft's Compendium

Niffit! I just looked over the Heaven's Arc listings. Many of them look quite cool, and would fit well with an "Elemental" theme. (Stone Dragon for earth, Desert Wind for fire, Heaven's Arc for Wind, and something else for water...) My comments/questions: 1. - Arc of Celerity seems too good...

    Help Illuminate Light

I think the player would have been right if the light spell said "Effect: 40' radius of light" or some similar text. It's effect is not a radius of light, but rather causing an object or point in space to emit light. It also does not stipulate that the light cannot extend past that 40' boundary.

High level play and "reverse LA"

Ah, yes, Upper_Krust's ECL and CR systems are pretty good. I don't think they are a substitute for common sense, but they are pound for pound more mathematically accurate than most of the junk WotC spits out. (Don't get me wrong; WotC still puts out some real gems) I'd also like to point out...

Sleight of Hand on Spell Component Pouches

A 1st level rogue would have a hard time taking a 20th level mage's spell components. 1 - He has to get to the mage. The best way to do this is to hide and move silently.(Otherwise the mage Disintegrates them with their first action) The mage may have decent listen/spot skills, and if they...

    XP and defeating opponents

I think whether you award Xp or not depends on the situation. (And the DM's definition of "Challenge" and "Defeat/Overcome") Lets say the party is in a dungeon, and fights some Imps. The wizard casts wall of force to cut off half of the imps from getting to the party. However, the Imps teleport...

    D&D 3.x Monk 3.5

If they had spring attack they could continue to move up to the monk and at least end their turn threatening him/her.

Sleight of Hand on Spell Component Pouches

Unless I missed something, Sleight of Hand is a standard action. (Unless you take the -20 for it to be a free action) Using skills in combat 'usually' provokes an attack of opportunity. While this may seem "too good", Sleight of hand can only steal small objects (smaller than a light crossbow)...

    Name Unknown (A New PrC)

This is a pretty cool class. :) The prerequisites look painful, which is good: This prestige class is strong. "Instant Reaction" does not appear on your class features table. I can't think of a name for this class, but "Chameleon" comes to mind. (Though the WotC book Races of Destiny already...

    Stats and Balance

While damage might seem more potent at higher levels than AC, they are NOT related. A 20th level fighter might have 200 hit points. Without some serious game-breaking cheese, that fighter won't even have 100 AC. Heck, he'd be hard pressed to have 50. Also, by the time you can have 100 natural...

NEW Immortals Handbook - Ascension thread

Hmmm. This is interesting. A character hitting a foe, and exceeding their AC by 5, gets +105 to damage if they crit. Now, Suposedly this can be done in the mid-20's. The average hitpoints of a monster With a CR ~ 25 is between 200-1000. Weapon damage (including virtual size), strength mod, and...

NEW Immortals Handbook - Ascension thread

Heh, still trying to wrap my brain around the Omega template. I am pretty sure I know how strong it will be, but statistical bonuses asside, what kind of powers do you attribute to the Antithesis of the Supreme Being? Rules/Physics nullification? Immune to Divine powers? *Head Explodes*...

NEW Immortals Handbook - Ascension thread

I just think its a little odd that an Omnific power can 'only' make you as tough as neutronium, but a transient power can let you create the "Strong Symmetric Matter Gundam" (It wouldn't be a gundam then, but still).

... He could always make his own. I always liked the Dragonlance Deathknight VS the MM2 Deathknight. (Power word kill is just so awesome.) But largely it isn't important. Since he plans on build on the deathknight, it might be best to create a Deathknight template, since the MM2 version isn't...

NEW Immortals Handbook - Ascension thread

Well, for what it's worth, I could have taken only a couple of months... As long as you do nothing but type. No going out, no sleeping. Just typing. Maybe eating, as long as you continue to type with one hand. Though no one can really sit down and work on the same thing for an extended period...

NEW Immortals Handbook - Ascension thread

Humans are always said to be adaptable creatures, so for the domain spells, put utility spells. (Fly, See invisibility, etc) For powers, any of the Anyfeat-type powers. Or powers that give lots of less potent options. For weaknesses, I am not too sure, but humans being very general is somewhat...

NEW Immortals Handbook - Ascension thread

Cool as far as VSCs and base damage go (it speeds up quick deity creation a bit), but what about Total [Ability]. It is a much stronger power. Perhaps Legendary [Ability] could become a prerequisite for Total [Ability]? Filling a transient power slot with all 6 Total [Ability] powers quickly...
