NEW Immortals Handbook - Ascension thread

Good to hear you are feeling better. :) The monk is sort of weak, (used to spam attacks; all stat ups went to Wisdom and his stat increasing item ups wisdom as well) but he has a (headband?) of Inner Eye as an artifact, so even handed seemed a bit moot. Theres sort of a inside joke there, as...

NEW Immortals Handbook - Ascension thread

Actually it is the Sword Portfolio; In a previous adventure he obtained an awesomely powerful sword that is soul-bound only to him; (Cursed so that he is the only being who can wield it, but it is also the only weapon he can wield) It was thrown together a bit before Immortals rules so...

NEW Immortals Handbook - Ascension thread

The answer come from magic: There are a couple spells in the PHB and in the Spell Compendium that can protect you from some of the Effects. Deathward (PH) and Sheltered Vitality (SpC) come to mind. From what I have also seen while helping two people convert characters is that Alter Reality (to...

NEW Immortals Handbook - Ascension thread

Yea, when I threw Cyric together the other night, the numbers look like they worked out perfectly. :) I still need to know what the other 2 players are going to play. My guess is one will play an older character; Dwarven fighter type with the Sword Portfolio. Otherwise, I have: Drow Monk (High...

NEW Immortals Handbook - Ascension thread

I was thinking about it. :) Heres what I have so far: (My players, stay out or be spoiled!) Algol, the Demon star, deep within the Ort Cloud, has had a mad revelation! If he absorbs all of the 'lesser' gods on all the worlds in the universe he will have enough power to consume the Demiurge when...

NEW Immortals Handbook - Ascension thread

Sorry to hear it. :( On the flip side, a couple of my friends are interested in an immortals game. (They converted their old characters a few days ago and said that it would be fun to play the old characters one last time before 4E) They are all about lesser deities, and while I don't have much...

NEW Immortals Handbook - Ascension thread

Actually, wolves do have the track feat. (And a +4 when tracking by scent) While it does make more sense to use search or some other skill, for the purpose of keeping rules uniform and to prevent unnecessary rules changes, Tracking should remain in survival. Anything else would confuse people or...

NEW Immortals Handbook - Ascension thread

None the less, tracking in 3.5 uses the Survival skill. (No matter how much more sense it would make for Search)

NEW Immortals Handbook - Ascension thread

U_K: Table 3-1: Portfolios notes 'synergistic' portfolios? What does this mean? Does it grant a benifit, or is it simply 'these two make a lot of sense together'. Either way, this should probably be noted; I spent about an hour scanning the book for mention of it. Also, I believe Synergistic is...

4th Edition and the Immortals Handbook

Well, options are great, but I think it is a step in the right direction; Accommodating new DMs vs Experienced ones. I (yesterday) intro-ed a new player to the game. Brand new. Never played before. I don't think he could run the 3.5 Pit fiend without reading it before the game began and looking...

Bo9S: mixing and matching disciplines by class

I currently run a game like this and don't see any real problem. I've got a Swordsage who still only took a mix of swordsage specialty maneuvers and a multiclass Fighter 4/Warblade 1 who took Devoted Spirit maneuvers. No balance issues yet; The Swordsage appears to be made of tissue paper, and...

What Epic Monster types do you most want to see?

I hope U_K starts a new thread about the contest. U_K mentions on the site about a possible epic monster design contest. I haven't done a truly epic monster in a while (been working on monsters and campaigns to challenge mere mortals). I am definitely interested, since I like creative exercises...

Immortals Handbook - Epic Bestiary (Epic Monster Discussion)

Well, the gold/silver rules apply there: Powerful abilities; weak bodies. I would find the CR adjustment of just it's abilities alone, then apply that to 1 HD and reduce via Acid testing until the CR looks right. (Halving the modifier of the abilities to CR repeatedly until the threat level...

What Epic Monster types do you most want to see?

Well, if you don't mind spoilers... Last episode. Not much in the way of chalkman, but still the most epic thing ever. http://www.stage6.com/user/JDWV/video/2035300/Tengen-Toppa-Gurren-Lagann-27-(Eng-Sub) Otherwise he doesn't appear much. He's just sort of a shadowy... thing. He probably only...

What Epic Monster types do you most want to see?

Well, from what I could tell from the anime, the only time they refered to him as Anti-Spiral was when somewhat asked what he was. Being the collective consciousness of the Anti-Spiral race, assigning a name like Tod just wouldn't work. "The Anti-Spiral" seems more of a title, so if he had a...

NEW Immortals Handbook - Ascension thread

Well, Tieflings and their kin don't have many HD, (Do they even have 1?) so even if they got 1/2 their HD, that won't amount to much. (Since the rule only counts racial HD) The rule seems to be there more for monstrous deities. (Ranging from angelic beings, demons, and devils, to Horrors from...

Immortals Handbook - Epic Bestiary (Epic Monster Discussion)

Looks good. :) As for it's CR: Mind warp shouldn't add much; I just adds a prerequisite of high will save boosting/immunity to the fight; Its an all or nothing affair. I'd say its worth only about a 6 CR adjustment, assuming there are not any easy pre-epic defenses (like mindblank) that work...

What Epic Monster types do you most want to see?

Well, to be fair to undead, they suffer from a lot of limitations in epic levels. They need rediculous HD to have enough HP and BAB to threaten the average character, which means if you give them those HD, their save DCs are also inflated. (They also have way too many feats because of this) And...

    Help with Chase Scene

WotC's Stormwrack had rules for ship-to-ship pursuit and combat that could be adapted to a chase. It was simple; all you had to do was do some skill checks once per round, and you only had to track the distance between the PCs and the Carriage.

What Epic Monster types do you most want to see?

A Small-ish PDF detailing a single pantheon & relating monsters seems useful; Especially if you detail obscure pantheons. (Everyone knows who Thor is, but those native-American-nigh-unpronounceable gods? Not so much) Otherwise I really can't say as I am not familiar with many of the pantheons...
