    Subtitles or dubbing?

When I was younger I watched several anime 'dubbed' and then later watched the subbed versions. I found that the subbed versions feel like a whole different story with different theme emphasis. (Even if the dialog is the same) So for me, I prefer Subtitles in movies unless the dubbing is of...

NEW Immortals Handbook - Ascension thread

Well, if that is the case, I would recommend then including a sidebar or annotation for the psionics section of Ascension to note something along those lines, or or give a suggestion as to what one should do if they decided not to incorporate Psionics Rules into their game for whatever reason...

NEW Immortals Handbook - Ascension thread

Ok, Science can be one of three things: 1 - Magic (Sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic) 2 - Psionics (Opposes magic by relying on ones own mental ability to exert control on reality rather than using magic itself as a tool; Not very science-y but Greek-sounding power...

NEW Immortals Handbook - Ascension thread

Yea, Elder evils was nice, though there were about a dozen typos (mostly formatting) and a copy-paste error in one of the feats. Strangely, I wasn't too interested in the entities themselves, but I liked the other monsters and NPC ideas. Some of the Evils just didn't seem dangerous stat-wise...

How much of your typical play time is combat?

My group games every other Saturday, starting around ~11 AM to about 8 or 9 at night. I'd say about 1-3 hours of which were OOC time. I voted 10-20%; Theres only about 1 combat per session, but it's usually pretty major. (unless its the final session in an adventure which is about 3-5 combats...

    Hiding Vampirism

This could also work as part of the PC's backstory; PC was turned by Strahd before the adventure begins, and possibly contacts the RSoP to aid him. This way the other players won't feel like they are being betrayed. They knew what they were getting into when they decided to help the vampire...

    Duskblade Build Help

Repeat spell gets you the most TrueStrikes per spell slot. Quicken Spell frees up your actions a bit. If your group has many encounters each day, Repeat spell is much more efficient. If your group only has 1 or 2 encounters typically before resting, Quicken might be better. Picking up Bo9S...

Well, to be fair, the ELH only introduced one new tier of feats; Ascension has 4...

    Challenging Challenge Ratings...again

Actually, this is sort of an interesting point; With many PC resources being per encounter rather than per day, encounter dynamics may be vastly different than in 3E. If Book of 9 Swords is any indication, PCs may very well have an ability to heal themselves, or use some other ability, as much...

NEW Immortals Handbook - Ascension thread

The problem with including all the prerequisites in a feat table is that it makes it cluttered. WotC might have set precedent by doing so in all their books; that doesn't make it the best way. For example, if you wanted to write up Ultimate Weapon Specialization's Prerequisites: they are BAB...

What Epic Monster types do you most want to see?

I went with choices that I would think would aid in epic adventure design: Abominations & Entities - They seem like cool boss monsters. :) Great fluff and easy to build an adventure around. Dragons - Same reason - Big and nasty. Elementars and elementals - I like elementals, and they seen like...

NEW Immortals Handbook - Ascension thread

I think U_K's art is pretty neat. When I first came to his site I saw the picture of that big tornado monster and said, "That is awesome!" But if it comes to a choice between really neat illustrations and cover art VS. more ancient reality-warping 7-dimensional undead demons beyond mortal...

NEW Immortals Handbook - Ascension thread

I still have a bone to pick with Cosmic Firmament; I noticed while skimming that cosmic Firmament does like 10 different things depending on where you read it. For example, in the Elder One template, it says for hit points they get X4 HP, and it tells you to see their cosmic firmament special...

DM's what kinds of monster features 'annoy' you or make your job harder?

I don't like monsters that nullify entire classes. Like an Iron Golem. There is nothing a rogue can do to it, other than run away or perhaps set a trap. It has tons of DR, so unless the rogue carries an Adamantine Dagger, he isn't doing any damage. This matters to me as a player and as a DM...

NEW Immortals Handbook - Ascension thread

As far as a typo I have noticed: the Regeneration divine ability still has the Copy-Paste 'combine music' crap. Also the divine ability Forked Tongue makes reference in it's description to being a Free action, and then later, a Swift action. Otherwise, the only thing I noticed as 'off' in the...

NEW Immortals Handbook - Ascension thread

They are not really described as being superior to normal creatures except that they can use magic within their own dead-magic area. I'd say their CR is about +36. My reasoning: In Ascension, the Double Magic Portfolio Ultimate power lets you use magic in a Dead-Magic Zone; This is akin to a...

By my estimate (been a long time since I calculated time zone differences) he still has 20 minutes. :) I do hope there is an update though; I recently had a need for some IH material in my campaign setting, and an update is the perfect excuse to give it another read :). EDIT: U_K exceeds my...

Immortals Handbook - Grimoire (Artifacts, Epic Magic discussion)

Besides, there are so many feats that just add cool factor to a mage that I would think it boring not to take any. Examples: Automatic Writing, Improved Familiar, Various feats from Complete Arcane/Mage, Item Creation (Who Doesn't want to have an army of Iron/Mithril/Plutonium/Dark matter...

    Rules for archery volleys?

The WotC books Heroes of Battle had rules for archer volley. IIRC, it did several dice in damage with a reflex save for half. No attack roll, but hits a large area. That might be what you are looking for.
