    D&D 4E How would you re-envision Spelljammer with 4e?

This is almost a clone of my Ravenloft answer... I would present it as a single book setting to be used with ALL other settings. Depending on the vision the designers have for the astral sea, that may in fact be where these great ships sail.. If it is taken in that direction, I think it would...

D&D 4E How would you revision Ravenloft with 4e?

This one is simple... A single setting guide, to be supplemented via DMG/BHB/MM releases and other "core" products. The setting itself would be presented, much as my friends who play already present it to me, as a cap system. A Twilight Zone type realm of horror that exists parallel to ALL...

    D&D 4E How would you re-envision Planescape with 4e?

I... wouldn't *dodges rain of rotten vegetables* I loved the setting. I loved the tone. I just don't think, given a newer and seemingly more adventurer friendly cosmology that we need it. I would (and I already recognize this as a likely unpopular idea) do a single book called "Planecape" or...

    Dungeons, Dragons, and Demographics

Hussar explains this really well. Basically, while 30% seems like a lot of loss, having roughly 70% of your customer base ready to make the investment into the next version calculates as more earnings over time than not releasing the new version and instead just issuing more patches to 100% of...

    Elven Man-O-War (Spelljammer)

All of these are nice, but that first picture of the elven ship... I could easily see that as a splash page in the Spelljammer 4E book, maybe even a cover with the right formatting. I'm in awe.

DMG news from Rich Baker blog

a starting town is a welcome addition. I really would have preferred hommlet or something else with similar significance to the brand, but it'll be a solid resource either way. I appear to be in the minority when I say that I can not stand the idea of an adventure in a core book. I'm carrying...

    D&D 4E A Quibble About 4e Gods (rural)

I see a smaller published pantheon as one that focuses on the most used gods in your typical campaign. The most powerful ones that shape the pantheon, and the ones with "cool" portfolios that players always seem to choose as their patron deity. They can use the room saved by not publishing a...

About drow...shouldn't they have an int bonus?

+2 cha makes sense to me, and I like the trinity of each race having a different non-physical stat focus. I'm guessing half elves will get the +2 dex, but no other stat bonus (at least from their elven heritage). That might allow "half elves" to be half of ANY of the full elven races. I'd love...

Holiday Present - The Elf PHB entry

I think there is enough evidence that the heights/weights would be fine for a slight people. More muscular, or overweight, characters would exceed the listed weights just as I'm sure the human equivalents in real life will exceed the weights listed for humans in the PHB. I don't have much to...

    D&D 4E New Campaign Setting for 4e (Part 2)

I don't know that this poll is going to get you the answer you are looking for. The issue, as I see it, is a little hard to dissect. Some people only purchase what they need, so they will only grab a campaign setting if they are going to run it. The quality of the art, editing, and layout are...

New article - Elves, Eladrin and Drow. Oh, my!

Am I off base, or do the elves have a distinctly native american feel to them. I like that. I've been toying with a setting concept that borrows from more non-european sources (native american, south american, egyptian, arabian, and pan-asian cultures were all being considered). 4E looks to be...

Holiday Present - The Elf PHB entry

I like it... As for the group "aura". I see it as the scene where the elf stops in his tracks and starts to scan the horizon, and everyone nearby does the same hoping to see what has the elf so wound up. That's how I'm going to play it. You only get the perception buff if the elf is using...

Your preference for how "fragile" 1st-level character should be

If it works pretty much like Star Wars SAGA I'll be quite happy. I like having multiple encounters a day and not having one or more characters nearly incapacitated and in desperate need of healing after every encounter. More health means that characters could theoretically move through a couple...

    Tieflings are Draenai

WAY off topic here... but Green Day was pretty punk before they sold out (years ago). The Goth thing happened before Headbangers came to pass. So did the Punk thing. Goths and punks shared an era (along with the mods, and some smaller subcultures). Quite a few Headbangers fell off to Grunge. I...

Arcane, Divine, and Martial: Expanded [Rampant Speculation!]

I'd prefer it that way myself, but I think one of the developers has already said that it is possible we will see new races/classes via Insider as web enhancements and Dragon articles.

    D&D 4E 4E FRCS Cover: NOOOOOOOOOO!

He is iconic enough. I guess if you have to have a character on the cover, he is the best choice. My issue is with the new cover trend in total. The "magic tome" look was cool in my opinion, although maybe getting a little tired by the end, but I'm not happy with the "D&D magazine" look from the...

    One setting per year?

I love Dark Sun, and still hope we see one-shots for it, other old settings, and whole new ones. That said... << edit: I recently found my cloth map from the original Dark Sun boxed set. This has to be my favorite game accessory of all time. I'm in the process of framing it. :) >> Planescape...

    D&D 4E A Change I'd Like to see in 4E Campaign Guides

I love the "points of light" concept as the implied setting for the core books, but I am a bit distressed at the idea (and the support for it) that all campaign settings be built around the concept. I'm torn on the issue a bit. I think 3rd party publishers will definately put out points of...

    One setting per year?

Remember that the fact that something wasn't published under 3E doesn't make it not viable. They specifically wanted to limit the number of official settings under 3E, but it appears that business model may have changed for 4e. (I'm still hoping our one setting a year, post Eberron, will be...

Let's Hear it for Wizard in Armor!

I think this is a great change. The fact that some basic "sacrifice" (a feat or multiclassing) has to be made to do so will mean that not every wizard does so (or at least not right away), but that any wizard can. Works for me.
