RPG Fiction: A Review of Critical Role: Vox Machina – Kith & Kin

I plan on picking it up, just to see who's right :D

    White Dwarf Reflections #6

TSR covered all the basic monsters you really needed in the MM. If you were publishing more monsters, they needed to be either setting specific, niche, or just really different. Later MMs and the FF were a bit repetitive (more humanoids...), filled in niches that were missed, or were different...

Vote For The Most Anticipated RPG of 2022!

Usually, I'm late to this party. Never had the experience of being too early before :D

Vote For The Most Anticipated RPG of 2022!

Voted... at first it didn't seem to want me to do so. It wasn't showing me the boxes for voting. I came back (just now) and they were there. Odd.

RPG Fiction: A Review of Critical Role: Vox Machina – Kith & Kin

I have no interest in Critical Role (watching streaming games is not my thing), but this sounds interesting as a book.

    D&D 5E (2014) Medieval D&D Character Sheets

Written forms of the "modern" languages began to emerge fairly early, but the literacy rate was low. I've seen estimates of 10-25% for different areas / times in the general population. Mostly people used their memory. Not that popular now, but it's a thing.

I suspect he was thinking along the lines of Disney / LucasFilm...

RuneQuest Starter Set: Played It Review of a Mythic World of Magic and Conflict

Glorantha was the main attraction for me, but I already had White Bear and Red Moon. An RPG set in that world was a major reason to get Runequest. The system was good, even if small combats took what seemed like forever (compared to D&D anyway). It was win-win for both setting and game...

    Dragon Reflections #51

The Dark Dwellers brought the Dark Trolls from Runequest to mind for me. Larger, more intelligent and better armed / armored than Trollkin. D&D Trolls were Cave Trolls in RQ terms, but in D&D the common Trolls are the base and Dark Dwellers (like the Dark Trolls in RQ) were more powerful. Of...

    Dragon Reflections #51

One of the things I loved about the Dragon was its coverage of non TSR games. Traveller had its own mag (JTAS) but articles about it were always welcome. This was definitely a good issue in a string of good issues...

There’s a TOMB RAIDER RPG Coming!

Yeah... I didn't think that one through did I? :D

There’s a TOMB RAIDER RPG Coming!

There can be only one :D This saves the trouble of who gets to be the central character and avoids clashes with "cannon" (is there cannon in TR?).

There’s a TOMB RAIDER RPG Coming!

"B" for "body"? The bear has the highest "B", and body would make sense for that. The rest?

D&D General Are Hit Points Meat? (Redux): D&D Co-Creator Saw Hit Points Very Differently

You can argue the meat vs. expertise / luck thing all day. I know I've done it :D I have come up with a few things that, for me, rationalize HP a bit more. Combat and damage: In combat HP work as normal unless you are totally surprised (flatfooted). Then the damage is multiplied by your level...

    Paizo Paizo Workers Unionize

I fully agree. I just don't see it changing too much unless the public has an epiphany and decides to pay us more / hire more teachers / lower class size etc. The public tends to think we are overpaid and underworked. And educational administration counts on people who want to do the job, and...

    Paizo Paizo Workers Unionize

If they were violating OSHA standards that agency or it's state equivalent would be having long conversations with them. Hopefully anyway. Unfortunately unpleasant work conditions, low pay (well, under minimum wage is covered), the lack of reasonable benefits, and even over work are not covered...

    Paizo Paizo Workers Unionize

I suspect almost all of us on these boards are "employees". Crunch time is a thing in a lot of industries. I am a teacher / instructor currently and my typical work week is 60 hours. I am teaching an overload and have for the last decade plus. When grades are due my week ramps up from there. It...

    Paizo Paizo Workers Unionize

Not many companies admit to financial issues. It brings too many business complications and questions about viability. That can impact things like preorders and subscriptions, both a big part of Paizo's business model. If you don't think regulations, investigations and procedures cost money...

    Paizo Paizo Workers Unionize

And no job is not a workers problem? Combine increased worker demands with supply chain difficulties (they print overseas iirc) and cost increases (besides wages / benefits) and people might be hunting jobs. I say might because, again we don't know.

    Paizo Paizo Workers Unionize

And maybe they do. The company might be treading water or sitting on a dragon's hoard. We don't know. Therefore it is difficult to say how reasonable these requests are in terms of the company's (and jobs) survival.
