    Using Detect Evil/Good

Very excellent and organized position. And I suspect that in most campaigns that have a problem with detect evil, you are dead on why. However I have to disagree that anything else is unworkable (sorry, I know I took that statement mostly out of context) ;) I don't think that a society or...

    any fun at all?

I ran a home grown 'prophecy' adventure series years ago. I think it fit more into the 'if you don't act' category. the party needed to acquire certain items in order, to defeat a demon. The party got 5 of the 6 items (missed on the last one) so they had to figure out how to stop the demon 1...

    Using Detect Evil/Good

Detect Evil, as written in 3.5E, does not fit our campaign. Most of our issues have been detailed in the above threads. As DM, I just didn't want the fight for Good against Evil to be that black and white. So we discussed as a group and house ruled "detect evil" to our new custom form. Works...

    Cover and Sneak Attack

I concurr. Several places make remarks that equate 100% concealment with invisibility, but I have not seen it stated unequivacally. Wiggle room! I believe it is implied, though not stated.

    Ask Djeta

[begin hijack thread] :p Say hi to all. It's nice to be missed. Keep those lies coming! Maybe we can get creative and sneak a 1 or 2 night something in with those mentioned - maybe even my wife! [end hijack thread] Djeta - you'll have to check out the adventure logs over the...

    Ask Djeta

Confident that we will successfuly close MojoDMs current adventure someday soon :p , what do you want to RP in my campaign? Or is this too on-topic? Yeah, and I want to know about those 'if not expressly permitted it is verboten' Germans too!

    Cover and Sneak Attack

Well I think you were correct anyway. 100% concealment is like invisibility, and I believe that also denies the defender his dex bonus to AC

    Cover and Sneak Attack

I'd agree with the ruling, but for the wrong reason. "The rogue’s attack deals extra damage any time her target would be denied a Dexterity bonus to AC (whether the target actually has a Dexterity bonus or not), or when the rogue flanks her target. " "Each combatant starts out flat-footed...

How precise can you time a delay?

Reach weapon? Even with a use penalty it is still a threat. Can't someone in your group cast summon monster to help out the poor rogue with a flank situation? I hope others in your group are trying to figure this out as well. Be a same to tie this character up being a 'flanking creator'. I...

Need some DMing advice - trying to avoid the railroad

there are lots of good ideas here, and you don't have to pick just one line of thought. you mentioned that BBEG is after them. well, why does there only have to be one group after them? then you can use many of these story lines. the groups can alternately follow, negotiate, steal, fight...

    Alignment and a Prisoner...

I'd be careful about taking a bite out of that cookie :D So I am one of those unfortunate DMs that still has not solved world hunger, cured cancer, and has not defined the good vs evil thing well enough in his campaign so that characters aren't confused by these moral quandries. Poor me...

Stupid player decisions + bad dice rolls = dead PC

I would relegate that kind of stuff to after game counselling. If the group is new to gaming perhaps, just in the beginning. But who am I to tell them what they think or what is wise! Leave that to in game PCs or NPCs. Of course just because I wouldn't do it in my game...

Stupid player decisions + bad dice rolls = dead PC

pass the tissues Most players put a little bit of themselves into their PCs, and for those players it is always hard. And I always grieve whether I am playing or DMing. I've been known to fudge a roll here or there (my players put your fingers in your ears). I hate to kill PCs. I will do...
