    Cascade effect of rule changes

Dagnabbit! I can never keep up with the newest fads in blaming. Darn kids and their newfangled hobbies!

Dragon 364 News at Gleemax [merged]

I go every day. How else am I supposed to vent my nerd rage, if I don't go to the site, see the lack of new articles and throw my hands up into the air and scream?

Any inherent conflict between per-encounter and per-day abilities?

I would add that pretty much all character abilities, powers and game subsystems derive from the rules. There is no out of game reason why magic works the way it does, or hit points, or character leveling. It's all a matter of degree.

Spiked Chain: The Ultimate Defenders Wep or Sir Not Appearing in the Edition?

I'm shopping this idea around to the other GMs in my group as we speak. If this isn't the rule in our upcoming 4e campaigns, we may house rule it.

    D&D 4E Non-WotC publishers - 4ed, settings, and $5,000

Arcanis is currently doing well under 3.5. Given the fall off of players we experienced in Tucson during the slow transition from 3.0 to 3.5, I would be surprised if the same didn't happen after 4e comes out. Since the 4e announcement, we've had so little participation in game days that we...

    Cascade effect of rule changes

I loose track of what the other two are as well. What I want to know is: if I don't get (or like) something in the new edition, am I supposed to blame it on video games, anime or MMOs? I keep forgetting. :p

Which class will be the faveorite wrt multiclassing dips?

I think we'll see both in the new edition. I believe that the class training feats are designed to represent dabblers, while multiclassing is intended to represent a character with a broader base of powers and abilities.

    D&D 4E 4e Magic system, speculations?

I've tried (mostly to no avail) to house rule it away since the late 70s. I invented the sorcerer through trial and error back in the 80s, but discarded it since I thought is was too powerful compared to the other classes. Darn WotC must have been reading my mind! Must find tin foil hat....

D&D 4E Why I like the 4ed Forgotten Realms (and 4ed in general, for that matter)

AFAIK she killed Vaerlun and took his stuff - well his portfolio and worshippers anyway.

    WotC_Rodney: Trap Fun!

Oh no! Another thread hijacked by the great 4e nomenclature controversy! It's Golden Wyvern Adept all over again. I'm not disputing your point that the name blows (pun intended), but this topic is right up there with kender vs. halflings vs. hobbits and katana vs. longsword for subjects most...

    NPC Classes?

    Exactly.

D&D 4E Why I like the 4ed Forgotten Realms (and 4ed in general, for that matter)

You don't like that they kept Eiliastrae (sp)? As far I know, she is the only drow god to have survived the edition change - apart from Lolth.

    NPC Classes?

This argument falls flat for many reasons, but primarily because you are treating it as an all or nothing affair. If you don't like to GM in this way, no one is telling you that you have to do so. You can build your NPCs just as if they were PCs. We've been assured that the system will support...

    NPC Classes?

Unless the PCs are looking at the enemy's stat block, how do they know whether it was the sword or the enemy making it do so much damage? I am assuming that if you are using a dragon and 'filing off the serial numbers' to make another enemy, you are using the logic to make it a comparable...

    Cascade effect of rule changes

I'm pretty sure this is a major component of the new system. A lot of things needed changing, and in changing them other things had to change in order to maintain balance. I also think that some of the designers just wanted to do things differently. We've already been told that the 3e...

Which class will be the faveorite wrt multiclassing dips?

I'm thinking this is probably pretty accurate. In fact, I would be a little surprised if this isn't how the feat will work. The only concern I have is that the wizard powers scale based on character level. If not, a character who takes this feat would fall pretty far behind the power curve.

Which class will be the faveorite wrt multiclassing dips?

I had assumed that the wizard training feat would be required each time you wanted to dip into the wizard's talent/power selection. If it is a one time thing, it would seem to be very powerful for a feat.

    Turn Undead should be removed!

I agree and agree. The mechanism for turning has always been bad in D&D. Given my preferences, turning would be either an at will or per encounter ability (depending on how it works). I wouldn't necessarily make it something that all clerics have (in fact I'm hoping that we see very little of...

Any inherent conflict between per-encounter and per-day abilities?

I'm holding my opinion on this aspect of the game. I have no problem with a large number of per day powers, so long as the character in question still has enough resources in per encounter and at will powers to make him effective once the per day abilties have been used up. I like the direction...
