    Electing a new pope-adventure

The Dying Earth Roleplaying Game has mechanics for trying to influence and mislead audiences; I used it for a game based on the UK General Election of 2001, with Robin Laws as guest star. It should handle this fine.

Do All of Your RPG Maps Now Belong To Judges Guild? ... and more?

It might stimulate a new outburst from NuTSR. This is stupider than any of their work, and they won't like being outdone.

How Much Do You Care About Novelty?

I want some strangeness. I'm all burned out on Dark Lords, epic quests, and plot vouchers ("Collect all these things and trade them in for a conclusion!") I want to play characters that are different from my previous ones. Strangeness can come from many places. In Glorantha, it's built into the...

    How adversarial is your group?

There are a few things one has to distinguish from adversarial play: Breaking laws in civilized parts of the setting, and getting caught and put on trial. As a GM, I have executed one PC for attempted murder of the judge. The rest of the PCs stood by, because they couldn't claim it was unfair...

"I think Hydrogen is a rare element" and other science facts.

An acquaintance was playing in a supposedly semi-realistic SF campaign, where they landed on the Sun. Until he had a quiet word with the GM. There are plenty of people around who think they learned about the realities of space from Star Wars and/or Star Trek.

    Clowns fighting crime

My notes on a Pathfinder scenario involving murders at a circus include the sentence "They have clowns, all with different makeup, none with obvious claws, none habitually murderous."

How Would Your Favorite Game System Handle This?

The way I'd run this, irrespective of game system, depends on how much communication the characters can do. If they have everyone-to-everyone telepathy, or radio systems so high-tech that their use isn't obvious to outsiders in conversation with them, then I'd run everyone's actions in parallel...

Describe your last RPG session in more than 5 words.

We're still trying to get the Duke & Duchess of Windsor to the Bahamas. It's a trying quest. We were all ready to fly them out of Bathurst, Gambia, to Freetown, Sierra Leone, when we went to collect them from the hotel, and found that the Duke had sneaked off and headed "Up country" with a local...

Do you buy new versions of TTRPG games when you haven't had time to play the older version sitting on your shelf?

If I haven't played a game by the time a new edition comes out, I usually conclude that I'm not very interested in it, and leave the new edition alone. There are exceptions to this: I'd buy a new edition of Continuum, for example, in the hope it would be more readable and comprehensible...

    What RPGs genres are lacking?

Age of Sail, as pirates or navy, is worth a try as a solo game. So is occult mysticism, including shamanism. Military games are worth a try, though those would require running a squad as PCs, rather than an individual.
