D&D General Why does D&D still have 16th to 20th level?

I find it funny how in 3e, the official Odin had an ECL of 60 without counting Divine Abilities. It makes it really jarring when people actually as though you become invincible at Level 15. That just tells me that the DMs aren’t trying enough imo.

D&D General Why does D&D still have 16th to 20th level?

But it’s fun for me to make monsters and encounters. It’s annoying that I have to nix so many ideas because it’d be too hard for the players.

D&D General Why does D&D still have 16th to 20th level?

You don’t have to wait. Just play what you have at the moment and then what you have later.

D&D General Alien Character Mindsets: Elves should be pretty conservative about almost everything.

Elves in lore are typically portrayed as “Chaotic” compared to the “Lawful” Dwarves. While I can still see them as conservative, it would be in a way that they’re still hippies.

    D&D 5E (2014) Half races as sub-races? (+)

I love the idea, but naturally, the execution needs work. Not to mention Aasimar and Tiefling aren’t Half-anything.

D&D 5E (2014) How long are you willing to wait for a build to "turn on?"

Personally, I feel like the most organic type of growth is just picking up whatever comes your way rather than the set paths that a lot of later editions try to force us down.

    Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Epic

Honestly, I don’t like the idea stat caps since I feel like it goes against the principle of Epic Level Gameplay. That being said, I think that the Classes themselves should cap out at 20.

D&D 5E (2014) How long are you willing to wait for a build to "turn on?"

Level 1 characters are noobs and therefore should be played as such.

D&D 5E (2014) How long are you willing to wait for a build to "turn on?"

It’s natural that more complicated backstories and classes would have more prerequisites. I remember that someone pointed out that Amiri, Pathfinder’s iconic Barbarian, should’ve been Level 6+ based on her backstory of killing a Frost Giant. I think my main issue is that people want these...

D&D General Is power creep bad?

If the players are able to teleport to a place that they need to get to because of a quest, why would you prevent them from doing so? Instead, make teleportation just one thing the players have to do in order to solve the issue. And put time limits as well. Too many DMs give players all the...

D&D 5E (2014) How long are you willing to wait for a build to "turn on?"

That’s probably not a build then. Builds are complicated.

D&D General Is power creep bad?

Not really. “Restrictions breed creativity” applies to the DM as well as the players. How they react to the players’ power lets them decide how their plot actually functions in their game.

D&D 5E (2014) How long are you willing to wait for a build to "turn on?"

This would be horrible for me because I actually like high concentration games like Final Fantasy and the like and that requires levels much higher than 10. What’s even the point of levels if the gameplay itself is static?

D&D 5E (2014) How long are you willing to wait for a build to "turn on?"

Doesn’t it make more sense to happen upon a prestige class rather than actively seek it out? If you don’t have a prestige class or archetype, then it probably wasn’t that important to the children to begin with.

I feel like it’s better than the current system where spells affect creatures based on their type.

    D&D 5E (2014) What rule(s) is 5e missing?

Aging mechanics. I know people don’t like drawbacks, but I personally like to see a person’s health reflected in their stats.

D&D 5E (2024) What if you were in charge of reworking classes for 5.5?

Well, when did you decide what you career you? Middle school? High School? College? They probably expected you to be molded by the campaign you’re in rather than choose before you had a good feel of what’s going on.
