D&D 5E (2024) What if you were in charge of reworking classes for 5.5?

Alternatively, you can just start out at Level 3 anyways since backstories are often elaborate enough that you should’ve gained a level anyways.

    D&D 5E (2014) Epic Level 1?!

I like playing Digimon World and Xenoblade Chronicles, so this something I look forward to. Besides, not everything has to be solved by combat.

    D&D 5E (2014) Epic Level 1?!

Personally, I like to have fairly static levels for NPCs in my campaign. 40% of the NPCs are between Levels 1-8. 30% are Levels 9-14. 20% are Levels 15-18. 10% are Levels 19-20. The NPCs being static allows for the players to get a better measure of their place in the setting.

D&D 5E (2014) Turning Aasimar, Tiefling, Warforged, Shifter and similar races into multiclass templates that add onto "base" race instead of being separate race.

While I love the idea that PF2e did, I don’t like the execution as it oddly felt restrictive. That being said, it could’ve just been that the edition was still new, so they only focused on core races. While culturally, an elf is unlikely to mate with an orc or a dwarf, I’d still like for it to...

    D&D 5E (2014) Epic Level 1?!

Personally, I feel like the weirdness comes from the fact that there are so many forms of progression that don’t really require levels. Equipment, traits, the fact that DMs can just adjust encounters to make them easier or harder,… It definitely lessens the “impact” of levels. It doesn’t help...

    D&D 5E (2014) Epic Level 1?!

Wouldn't that just highlight how useless level is in the game?

D&D 5E (2014) Starting HP based on Size, Race and Class...

Why don’t people just start at a higher level like 4 or 6?

D&D General D&D 6e comes out, and the game also makes use of these dice, your thoughts?

Man, these dice look creepy. I don’t see them getting much traction.

D&D 5E (2024) What if you were in charge of reworking classes for 5.5?

I’d bump Barbarian up to d20 and Fighter to d12.

D&D General D&D 6e comes out, and the game also makes use of these dice, your thoughts?

I was more trying to differentiate why you would want to have both 1 HD and 2. Those numbers were just the first ones that came to my head. Let’s say 1d12 versus 2d6 instead then.

D&D General D&D 6e comes out, and the game also makes use of these dice, your thoughts?

Maybe they could implement a feature that lets you upgrade the HD of your class e.t. Barbarian would become d20.

D&D General D&D 6e comes out, and the game also makes use of these dice, your thoughts?

I think I’d be ok with a d14 for an average weapon and 2d7 for a good weapon. From a lore perspective, you could justify it by saying that the weapon is an Exotic one.

    D&D 5E (2014) Is Tasha's Broken?

Floating ASIs feel really cowardly. Like the player is terrified of losing in a game without game overs.

    D&D 5E (2014) Is Tasha's Broken?

To me that just means make the stat differences bigger.

    D&D 5E (2014) Is Tasha's Broken?

Basically, it’s a psychological thing. The idea that it could be higher causes players to scapegoat their bad rolls onto it.

D&D 5E (2014) What Are Your Favorite D&D Monsters (MM Edition)?

I noticed that I favored monsters with elemental affinities and environmental variants.

D&D 5E (2014) Which Official D&D Books Are Your Favourite?

Dang. This thread made me realize how much I didn’t like 5e. I only chose Theros and Storm King’s Thunder.
