D&D General I really LOVE Stomping Goblins

I think this is part of the problem. Creatures like Orcs are assigned traits that are considered “evil” by the makers of the game, but is it really that bad to be treated with extreme prejudice? It reminds me of the show The Good Place where at least half of the things that could get you sent...

Making Religion Matter in Fantasy RPGs

Someone pointed out that in real life, people often worshipped destructive and evil gods because they believed they could stave off the gods’ wrath if they do. That would be one reason why in Golarion, they named a month after Rovagug, the most dangerous of gods.

D&D General How many mechanical features does a race need to feel "right"?

It needs to accurately reflect the myth that it's based off of. That's the most important part.

    D&D 5E (2014) Point buy vs roll

It seems like the point is to get high enough attributes that die rolls don't actually matter.

    D&D 5E (2014) Point buy vs roll

I've found that players bas a whole hate luck. That's why the don't even want an inkling that they're going to lose.

    D&D General D&D doesn't need Evil

It's only really prescriptive in a game perspective (as well as outsiders). In universe, they have about as much choice as real life people do.

D&D General IMO, Alignment should be "Fill in the blank"

I’ll need to remember this rule whenever someone argues about skills and ability scores.

D&D General IMO, Alignment should be "Fill in the blank"

But it’s always been “fill-in-the-blank”. Alignment has always just been a description of how people act. Not their allegiances.

    D&D General Alignment experiment

It feels funny how people don’t think of alignment as “descriptive”. It shows how much effort they put into writing a character versus actually playing it.

D&D General No More "Humans in Funny Hats": Racial Mechanics Should Determine Racial Cultures

If you have a +2 from race in your class specialty, then you’re not playing against the type.

    D&D General Inherently Evil?

That sounds like an excuse which are typically evil.

    D&D General Designing Morality Systems

I feel like that doesn’t fix any of the problems with morality since it just devolves into “perks” all the same.

D&D General No More "Humans in Funny Hats": Racial Mechanics Should Determine Racial Cultures

We could always just make it a narrative based gameplay. That way, no one would ever have to worry about a character being “weak” which seems to be the main issue here.

Pathfinder 2E Paizo drops use of the word phylactery

I actually prefer that they take terms from lore rather than just making stuff up. It’s naturally more symbolic that way. That’s also the problem sadly as it can still end up being disrespectful to one culture.

D&D 5E (2014) A Lineage and Its Variants: The New Race Format Going Forward

I mostly dislike lineage and ancestry cause they sound even more pretentious than race which is the thing that WotC and other publishers should logically be trying to avoid.

D&D 5E (2014) A Lineage and Its Variants: The New Race Format Going Forward

I honestly prefer it to race and definitely prefer it to something as vague as lineage or ancestry.

Pathfinder 2E Paizo drops use of the word phylactery

Rather than them making up their own word, I’d rather it just be called a “soul jar” or something along those lines.

    D&D 5E (2024) An idea on ASI's and varied Ancestries/Heritages

If I’m reading this correctly, you’re saying that certain races should have different maximum scores, but I don’t think that’s a good thing; especially with the format that WotC is going with nowadays. It’s like men vs women. Just because men are typically stronger than women doesn’t mean that...
