D&D 5E (2014) Why do Monks only have d8 HP instead of d10 HP?

They were never meant to be Tanks. They either attack or evade.

D&D General Do you prefer more or less Skills?

I feel like that would be too restrictive. Using skills allowed for characters with the exact same class to be differentiated more.

    D&D 5E (2024) What stuff from 3.5e/3e/2e/1e/od&d should go into 5.5e?

Real-talk: This sounds like a horrible idea. It would actively discourage people from leveling up since they know that they won't get anything out of it past level 10. P.S. I should've put "/s" after my text since too many people took it seriously.

D&D General The Role and Purpose of Evil Gods

It's that very reason why you yourself would never join one, but I can honestly think of a few people I know personally that actually would join said religion and not as a joke.

    D&D 5E (2024) What stuff from 3.5e/3e/2e/1e/od&d should go into 5.5e?

Who even does high level games? I see this as a non-issue.

D&D General The Role and Purpose of Evil Gods

I think it's interesting how people got the idea that Gods automatically have to be at least neutral.

D&D 5E (2014) The Philosophy Behind Randomized and Standardized Ability Scores

It's honestly just a psychological thing. The effectiveness isn't that much better or worse, but the idea that the role isn't at its full potential makes you think that it sucks.

    D&D 5E (2024) Blast from the past

Which is why they should bring back Divine Ranks in the game.

    D&D 5E (2024) Blast from the past

Nah, Templates by nature are for either amping up enemies or making them more narratively interesting. They really don't need to be "balanced".

    D&D 5E (2024) What stuff from 3.5e/3e/2e/1e/od&d should go into 5.5e?

d4 HD: t's honestly annoying how high the hit points for Mages are Divine Ranks: I love the idea of characters actually fighting gods.

D&D 5E (2014) Bosses should have half as many actions as there are PCs

I was think of using Octopath Traveler-esque rules where "once per turn" type effects occur at the end of the round and only happen once per round.

D&D 5E (2014) Race/Class combinations that were cool but you avoided due to mechanics?

There's something really irritating about 15 being treated as a low ability score. Especially, if I'm assuming that this is a level 1 character.

D&D 5E (2014) Race/Class combinations that were cool but you avoided due to mechanics?

I wouldn't say "fixed" but it allowed for more options.

D&D 5E (2014) Bosses should have half as many actions as there are PCs

How do people handle boss fights in 3.5/PF?

D&D 5E (2014) Bosses should have half as many actions as there are PCs

Yeah, I was mostly thinking of 3.5 and Pathfinder when I made this rule. I also like solo fights since I only need to keep track of one set of HP when I fight.

D&D 5E (2014) Bosses should have half as many actions as there are PCs

I believe the best way to solve the problem of bosses not having good action economy would be to give bosses extra turns per PC. Half seems like a good number. Let's say the boss is fighting a party of four. The boss would get two turns per round. Everybody rolls for Initiative. The DM would...

D&D General The Problem with Evil or what if we don't use alignments?

So it's not so that you can keep your hands clean and no one would even know that you got away with murder. Ok, let's go with that.

D&D General The Problem with Evil or what if we don't use alignments?

You can argue about whether or not killing someone is bad but it's generally accepted that torture is unambiguously bad. That's one of the reasons why poison is frowned upon. It might be "cleaner" then chopping off their head, but it's just as torturous. If you do it when your target isn't...

D&D General The Problem with Evil or what if we don't use alignments?

Doesn't that assume that they had water to begin with? It's funny how the concept of morality only matter when you're with other people. Whether or not the Paladin's action is bad or not depends on whether or not he's just making excuses for his actions. Beside, one bad act doesn't...
