D&D 5E (2024) Dungeon Master's Guide Bastion System Lets You Build A Stronghold

Wait, so it is a personal issue? This is where the confusion sets in.

D&D 5E (2024) Dungeon Master's Guide Bastion System Lets You Build A Stronghold

Oh sure, but the rules are pretty clear on the intent of the influence action. In the end, I don't think much has changed at all. Especially considering the codified stuff for the Influence action was already in the DMG under Resolving Social Interactions (page 244).

D&D 5E (2024) Dungeon Master's Guide Bastion System Lets You Build A Stronghold

It just gets really tiresome. You clearly enjoy talking about the game, but some people are puzzled by the negativity about a game you don't play.

No-one has the new DMG yet, so where are you getting this from? An additional section from the new PHB: The DM decides. Now before you make more claims, come with clear proof.

Where did they promise AI DM’s? I know the articles where they talked about AI, and there was nothing of the sort.

D&D 5E (2024) Dungeon Master's Guide Bastion System Lets You Build A Stronghold

As someone using the rules, you are definitely free to change what you don’t like! The core strength of the Bastion rules in the playtest is how easy they are to use. Our bastion is in a ship, and the players let me play the hirelings. I am doing a ton of little b-story things with them, and...

D&D 5E (2024) Not a fan of the new Eldritch Knight

I am not sure what you are trying to say. It looks like the biggest issue OP has is that he struggles with multiclassing.

D&D 5E (2024) Dungeon Master's Guide Bastion System Lets You Build A Stronghold

Yeah, that's why the "hands off DM's!" comment puzzles me. How antagonistic are other tables?

D&D General Warlocks: Charisma vs Intelligence

I don't really mind Charisma, but I would let a player change the primary ability if they agree not to multiclass.

D&D 5E (2024) Dungeon Master's Guide Bastion System Lets You Build A Stronghold

Yeah that's odd to me too. I am currently using the Bastion playtest rules to great success, but it is a ship. I'm taking a lot more control than is suggested by the RAI, as my players enjoyed it more that their Hirelings were played by me. I love doing little Star Trek B-stories with the crew...

    It’s working for me!

    D&D 5E (2024) Bastions in the 2024 DMs Guide

The idea is that a DM doesn't have to go into the minutiae of running the bastion or building it, making NPC's for it. That sounds like a really nice thing for a DM while they prep for the next adventure.

    D&D 5E (2024) Bastions in the 2024 DMs Guide

Can anyone point to this psychic link to the bastion? All I can find is this: That is totally reasonable.

    D&D 5E (2024) Bastions in the 2024 DMs Guide

The thing is, my players love using the Xanathar's downtime rules in their bastion. They interact with the hirelings, talk about how they imagine the place and it feels to them like their own. That's the thing I didn't expect, but it works really well. Bastion points... I like them more than...

Yes, Steongholds & Followers. It didn’t work for me.

    D&D 5E (2024) Bastions in the 2024 DMs Guide

Google for Bastions & Cantrips! It sounded like nothing changed, but I think they always keep things very superficial.

    D&D 5E (2024) Bastions in the 2024 DMs Guide

I have been using the playtest rules for the Bastions in my swashbuckling, mesopotamian Ixalan campaign as a ship that the players use to sail around on. It's been a blast. The rules give me just enough mechanics to make the facilities matter, while giving me enough space to change things to...

D&D 5E (2024) Not loving weapon mastery with beginners

I find it so odd how you are contested in your experience. It's not hard to understand that weapon masteries add another complexity to the game that can bog down further for players. A lot of people on this thread seem to feel like just because there is complexity in the game, there can always...

D&D 5E (2024) Josh Herman (Head of Art) Interview with Silver and Blue Dragon Art

This is probably my favorite old blue dragon design. I love it, but I think the new design is growing on me. In the end, I can still use any image I want for my games!
