D&D 5E (2014) When RAW goes too far

Video of someone dropping a 65lb bag of garbage into a lava pool: It penetrates the crust. Then either the lava itself gets gassy or water in the trash vaporizes. Ether way, it's not gentle. tl;dr: Fall in lava, you die.

D&D 5E (2014) When RAW goes too far

Oh, the warm, fuzzy feeling of smug pride one must feel for unearthing an exploit that defies all common sense!

What did Hubble see on your birthday?

Hubble hasn't spotted any gnome galaxies yet, though, as far as I know.

    D&D and the rising pandemic

Hehe, yep. If nothing else, I can at least confirm that there is a lot more I-35 corridor traffic nowadays than when I was a kid in Austin. ;)

I wonder if/when stricter states will start shutting borders with prematurely-open states....

    D&D and the rising pandemic

There's plenty of open land, but that's not where the people are. Just the stretch from south of Houston to the northern reaches of DFW is more or less one long swath of urban development for most of those 300ish miles. edit: The "Texas Triangle" megapolitan region (delimited by Houston...

How do people find and pay writers for RPGs?

I freelanced part-time for about 10 years, though not in the RPG industry. I typically submitted 1000-1500 words per day, and managed to make a decent living doing it. So I can certainly believe that good RPG writers would limit themselves to 2000 words per day. It isn't only the writing...

D&D 5E (2014) Survey: What should the next Magic the Gathering Campaign Setting be?

Is there a good primer overviewing the stories of these MtG worlds? (I could have sworn someone posted a link recently, but I can't find it...?) My limited exposure to it is as only a game, and so the overarching lore has been lost on me. However, these worlds are certainly interesting, and...

What makes a good map good?

This. Ultimately, the presentation of a map seems to depend on personal taste/ aesthetic/ limitations (eg color, format, digital/print, decoration, grids, symbology, etc); and how it's being used (eg, for DM reference vs use by players at the tabletop); and This all addresses how a map is...

    D&D and the rising pandemic

That's why I'm wondering if there's that "knucklehead factor" I referred to. Is this sort of thing accounted for (or even accountable by) the sorts of models they run? If it is, I'd feel more secure in the models; if knuckleheads aren't figured in, then I'm more doubtful. Unfortunately, my...

    D&D and the rising pandemic

Agreed. That's pretty much what I've been seeing from my very limited view on things. I wonder if there's an upper limit on the number of people who can be out there defying orders, without interfering too much with the greater effort to control it? Presumably that can be modeled if one can...
