D&D 5E (2014) What kind of adventure would you like to run/play? (quick poll)

I chose the third one because, of the three, it's the trope least familiar to me among (gaming) adventures I've ever run/played/read. I've experienced a fair number of lost jungle civilizations and desert temples, but not so many abandoned cyclopean cities.

OSR What's your brand of Basic?

I don't actively play Basic at the moment and haven't in many years, so I didn't vote*. But the question reminds me that when I was a kid, I learned D&D using the "B" from BECMI and the "X" from B/X. I didn't know the difference, and whatever difference there was didn't really make a...

    Gamer Locator?

Is the "Gamer Locator" geo-tool no longer available? It's mentioned in the header text of the "Gamers Seeking Gamers" forum, but I can't find the actual locator.

Survivor 5e Constructs: STONE GOLEM WINS!

Sadly, no. The duodrones in 5e are still just plain old, two-lobed modrons as in previous editions-- sort of like two flattened quadrones bolted together, and a creepily insipid flesh-face* slapped on. But some 2D (and maybe even 4D+ !!) modrons would finally make the species vaguely...

D&D General Where do you design your adventures?

For me, the "porcelain throne" is a fine place to cogitate; in addition to living room, bedroom, "in front of a computer", and "in my head".

    The moons are lovely...

Given the relatively large radius of Jupiter compared to the orbital radii of the innermost big moons (roughly 20%, I think?), I wonder if those moons would change appreciably in apparent size (and brightness) from moon-rise to zenith? Would Io appear to "fall" toward the observer as it rises in...

D&D 5E (2014) Do you like dungeon crawls?

For some reason, this brings to mind this quote: , referring to privies in Conisbrough Castle in northern England, from a link provided by someone in an ENWorld thread about weird dungeon architecture in the last couple months. I guess I'm just easily impressed.

Gatekeepin' it real: On the natural condition of fandom

I honestly don't see the problem with that. Morrus literally owns the gate, after all. How he chooses to police it is, in my mind, completely irrelevant to the discussion of "gatekeeping" in nerd culture or the adoption of a particular definition of that word.

Gatekeepin' it real: On the natural condition of fandom

It was a joke. But yes. Different posters are clearly using different definitions. Looks like there are a couple common definitions for the term "gatekeeping": traditionally: "the activity of controlling, and usually limiting, general access to something." (courtesy Oxford, via google search)...

Gatekeepin' it real: On the natural condition of fandom

Perhaps an appropriate phrase here is "gatekeeping gatekeeping".
