    D&D 3.x Figgy pudding familiar?

+1 to a CHA check after consuming a "cup of good cheer". However, after the fifth "cup of good cheer" that becomes a -4 to all CHA checks.

D&D General “Groom of the Stool” — how accurate do you want your royal courts to be

A barbarian power granted by the totem spirit no one talks about in polite company.

D&D 5E (2014) Barbarian, Why Do You Rage?

I rage laughing and singing and dancing, filled with the unabashed joy of mayhem.

    D&D 5E (2014) Bringing a Real World Character to a Fantasy World

Tbh, I find it much stranger that the same ability that enables a character to avoid blows and dodge fireballs is the same ability that determines how well they pick locks and play guitar.

D&D 5E (2014) Countering Rest Spells (Tiny Hut, Rope Trick, et al)

An "oil" can range from a thin watery fluid to a squishy semi-solid. An "angled surface" can range from slick glass to rough wood to absorbant foam. Why can't that drow "oil" be sticky like napalm? And who knows about the adhesion properties of a magical surface like a tiny hut? There is no...

Rise of Skywalker - Bold Predictions Thread

"At last!" cries Rey triumphantly, as the last drops of blood vaporized off her lightsaber. "The remnant of my enemies, Sith and Jedi alike, lie smoldering at my feet! And so I claim this Crown, to rule eternally as Ultimate Empress of the Galax--" Bob Newhart awakens with a start from a 42...

    Superhero Media: How much longer?

I voted "a decade," but that's mostly an expression of forlorn hope than actual expectation.

Starfinder Starfinder Alexa Skill: 'The Future Of 'Voice Gaming'

Hmmm.... Only a matter of time before we won't need players or DMs?

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e D&D adventures that have taught you the most

I'll second what several others here have already said. I'm finding Lost Mine of Phandelver and Dragon of Icespire Peak to be very helpful models for building my own low-level 5e campaign. Each presents a completely different structure, while both are well laid out and small enough to wrap your...

    D&D 5E (2014) Time

I'd imagine that what passes for a "major event" depends upon what one's memory is like. How long one lives (and how one lives it, I imagine) frames what is significant, and what is not. The long-lived will more easily remember a sprawling century-long conflict better than a years-long regional...

D&D General Slaads are failures as exemplars of Chaotic NEUTRAL

Weird. I had visions of The Frog Prince crossed with Ernest P. Worrell.

D&D General Write a Plot Hook that's a terrible pun designed to earn groans and thrown dice.

Faced with an incursion of mindflayers into their dimension, the PCs must go on a perilous quest to locate a source of the fabled neuronic substance known only as "Vitamin Psy." After procuring a quantity of the psionic nutritional supplement, the party must then somehow administer it to the...

Zak Smith is suing his accusers

Of course, McCarthy's list proved to be pretty much bogus; and the witch trials and satanic panics were predicated on mythical nonsense. Sexual misconduct, on the other hand, is a real thing and quite widespread.

    D&D Movie/TV New D&D movie details? Vecna?!

The term "n-tuple entendre" might be a bit closer to the mark, albeit only slightly less perplexing. ;)

Dice! Dice, dice, and more dice, please!

I just got my first set of metal dice today (actually they're Haxtec, too, old copper finish :D ). Also got a nice rolling tray-- which I now understand is definitely a necessity! (The viciously pointy d4 also means I now own a fully functional mini-caltrop.) I'm foreseeing a new metallic dice...

D&D 5E (2014) Advice on how not to feel like a lousy DM

This could be decent gauge for when to make a ruling vs look up a rule. If the DM feels a poor ruling might need a retcon (eg, a risk of TPK, a critical negotiation, a powerful magic item lost/acquired) then, yes, maybe look it up. But most of the time, just run with a quick ruling and correct...

What do you want to do better as a GM?

I'm getting back into the hobby after nearly a decade away, so the primary DMing skill I'll be honing in coming months will be... umm... recruiting a few good players!

D&D 5E (2014) In your Years of Gaming, How many Psionic Characters did you See played

Outside of Dark Sun, I only ever saw one psionic PC in someone's 2e homebrew about 25 years ago. I've never played a psy PC myself, nor had a psy PC in a game that I DMed.
