D&D General How old are you?

In my experience, the best fart jokes (and the best farts, for that matter) always came from grizzled old guys.

This totally belongs in the "Adventuring Party Names" thread.

D&D General Edition Experience - Updated Survey Results, Jan 2021 (All Surveys)

I wonder how many of those boxes were sold to parents, but then their kid thought "OMG I have to read all this??" and tossed it in a closet.

D&D General Edition Experience - Updated Survey Results, Jan 2021 (All Surveys)

@CleverNickName Thanks for running those polls, and taking the time to evaluate and write those results! Really interesting to see all this all laid out like this.

    D&D and the rising pandemic

Yeah. That second article I posted notes that Sweden's per capita fatalities are a few times higher than Norway's or Finland's; and even a bit higher that US's. The main positive mentioned was that their economy should be easier to spin back up when they ease their more limited restrictions...

    D&D and the rising pandemic

Re: Sweden-- Here's an article from today on the same topic that goes into a bit more depth, including a few local experts' differing views: https://www.newsweek.com/coronavirus-second-wave-sweden-lockdown-herd-immunity-covid-19-1500046 Also this one (a few days old) comparing and contrasting...

D&D 5E (2014) Wish and the requirement removal

Just out of curiosity, what spells tend to be cast using this particular feature of wish? (Asking as someone who's never played to high levels in 5e.)

I don't think people believe covid-19 necessarily is different. It's just that docs don't know yet, for lack of data. That's the science in action, right now. It's simply too early to tell... hence the great caution. My understanding is that there is a fair bit of worry that this virus could be...

    WotC "D&D's Best Year Yet"

They should have just labelled that 40-45+ group "grognard". * full disclosure: I'm in that group. ;)

Does a positive antibody test generally mean the infection is over and done with? Or does it simply indicate exposure, so any given positive result might either asymptomatic/recovered or a future illness or death?

D&D General What Style of Campaign Do You Prefer?

I like "episodic" for the flexibility. It lets me dish out a campaign in manageable, completeable chunks. Each "episode" can be a different style, and follow completely different storylines. And if desired, everything can still be braided together into a higher-level story. For those (like...

    D&D and the rising pandemic

That's really interesting. I wonder if people aren't noticing their lower oxygen levels because they're more sedentary during self-isolation? Seems like a compelling argument for getting some exercise-- not just for the exercise itself, but to monitor how effectively you're breathing under...

    D&D 5E (2014) Keeping Spellbooks Unique

Spellbooks are touchy, unstable things. Copying a spell (from a scroll, spellbook, or whatever) into your own spellbook risks damaging/destroying your own spellbook. (Could be an arcana check or something, and failure erases 1dN random spells from the book?) This risk drops as more time and...

D&D 5E (2014) Wish and the requirement removal

My own "natural language interpretation" just for grins: "duplicate" means make an exact copy. Nothing about the spell changes, aside from additional qualifiers noted in the wish spell text. "any other spell" could be interpreted in a variety of ways, DM's call. Obviously, it refers to any...

Yep. And I think they're all planning to do it by different priorities and schedules? So hopefully, at a minimum, those openings will provide some helpful data for other states, irrespective of individual opinions on the topic. Like I said: Those openings are the test. Ready or not, here they come.

    D&D and the rising pandemic

Yup yup... Population density and contagious disease are a bad, bad combination. I think commuting has a lot to do with it, too. So even rural areas where few people live are still at risk if there's a lot of traffic through, eg. for the agriculture or energy industries. I'm living in small...
