D&D General Gladiator = Weapon Master

That's adjacent to my point. They could be Battle Master maneuvers. But they shouldn't be. A whole new set of maneuvers based upon weapon masteries would just be too much. The BM already has enough toys to play with. Giving them more would not only be unbalancing, it would be bad design. Too...

    This is my favorite thread.

D&D General Gladiator = Weapon Master

I dig the Gladiator, the new Fighter subclass being tested in Unearthed Arcana. I like the flavor but I especially like the mechanics. I've heard some say the Gladiator is just a Battle Master lite, and that its Brutality features should just be Battle Master maneuvers. I disagree. In fact...

    D&D General 6E But A + Thread

5E is great. My favorite edition of the game. But it still has a lot of stuff that annoys the hell out of me. My wish list is basically 5E but with some changes along the following lines... Move more of the power budget away from classes into subclasses. That will make subclasses choice have a...

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

Gladiator looks fun and flavorful. I don't care particularly if it's exactly as powerful as Battlemaster or any other subclass. Close enough is good enough.

D&D General In 2025 FR D&D should PCs any longer be wary of the 'evil' humanoids?

I'm not caught up on this whole thread, so perhaps someone else has already noted this... The 2025 FR books will contain stat blocks for evil humanoids. For example, there will be "Drow of Lolth" who are the evil dark elves we all know and love.

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

I like these subclasses! Sorcerer and Fighter are standouts to me. Druid might be a little underpowered, but I'm not worried about that class being too weak. I can't quite judge the power level of the Warlock...but it feels undertuned.

Critical Role to Use D&D 2024 Rules For Campaign Four, Expands to Three Tables and Thirteen Players

To my surprise, I am genuinely excited for Campaign 4. It's a big, bold change. I applaud CR's willingness to try new things and I'm looking forward to watching it unfold.

Critical Role to Use D&D 2024 Rules For Campaign Four, Expands to Three Tables and Thirteen Players

Critical Role isn't in the business of RPGs. They are in the business of Critical Role. Publishing games is one (small) part of what they do.

Critical Role to Use D&D 2024 Rules For Campaign Four, Expands to Three Tables and Thirteen Players

The D&D vs Daggerheart narrative is tired. Maybe this gives an excuse to drop it for a while?

D&D 5E (2014) Ben Riggs talks to Richard Baker. Phandelver in 2018 alone sold 300k copies.

This. I ran Dragon of Icespire Peak and liked it at the time. In retrospect, I just liked expanding the sandbox around Phandalin. A hardcover that folded together the Starter Set and the Essentials Kit adventures, as well as logically expanding the story, would have hit the sweet spot. Who...

D&D 5E (2024) How excited are you for the 2 upcoming Forgotten Realms books?

Reading Tondro's substack...he seems like a cool guy. Book of Many Things is a gem, weird and wonderful, one of the best things published for 5E. I'm now more excited for these two FR books and hope they are as inspired as BoMT.

D&D 5E (2024) How excited are you for the 2 upcoming Forgotten Realms books?

I got a little snarky earlier. Sorry about that. I didn't mean to criticize or attack anyone here.

D&D 5E (2024) How excited are you for the 2 upcoming Forgotten Realms books?

Maybe I'm weird but...I LIKE changing things. I NEVER run an adventure or setting as written. I ALWAYS tweak it. Specific to the Forgotten Realms...I think there is a LOT of bad lore and content in the Realms. TONS. Going all the way to 1E. But there are also a lot of gems. So I remove what...

D&D 5E (2024) How excited are you for the 2 upcoming Forgotten Realms books?

If you don't like something in the books you can just, you know, change it. Because that's what Dungeon Masters do.
