Isn't this similar to 4E's split between combat and utility powers (I believe SW Saga was test bed for a lot of 4E ideas)? Not super familiar with Pathfinder 2E, but I think it has a similar split.

WotC owns Dragonlance. Why would they hire Weiss and Hickman and pay them to write a new trilogy if WotC doesn't intend to support it with an RPG supplement released at the same time the books are being published?

Seems a safe bet that we'll have a Dragonlance book for 5E coming this year or next.
