I'm not convinced there is a difference in approach between 5E and 5.5E. It's the same game. And the product plan has been evolving for the last 11 years. First, I'm surprised at how many setting books were published for 5E. And even more surprised that most of them didn't have adventure...

I'm about 40% of the way through my current campaign, which is 13th Age. That should take us until the first half of 2026 to finish. One of my players wants to run a Delta Green adventure; maybe we'll do that in October. In 2026 I want to start a new campaign for 5.5E.

A bit more like Rules Cyclopedia, I guess?

Keith Baker published multiple 5E sourcebooks on DMsguild. There's also a lot of 3E and even 4E material in there, too.

My fourth core rulebook would be everything you need to play D&D, all in one book. $150 is a big barrier to entry. Getting that down to a single book could open up the hobby a lot. What would be in it? 4-6 classes, 100 spells, 100 monsters, treasure, etc. And a digital download to a free 1-5...

I continue to be flabbergasted that this subclass gets a rider to Hunter's Mark but none of the PHB subclasses do. I mean, that's the obvious design space they were creating, similar to how the Rogue's subclass modifies Cunning Strike. This is like, I don't know, adding spell lists to a ranger...

I had the same thought. On the flipside, it's easy enough for a fighter to pick up Telekinetic and Telepathic feats.

Big thing I would do is go back to what WotC attempted in Princes of the Apocalypse, which is to have each campaign book include character options for players and subsystems for the DM. Imagine how much improved Rime of the Frost Maiden would be if it had the Winter Walker Ranger, an ice-themed...

No offense to anyone at WotC, but Moon Bard is everything I hate about subclass design. It's a jumble of mechanics that don't match the flavor text. If the flavor is meant to be the "druid bard" then give me druid spells, a pet, or even wildshape. That would be awesome. But this? Not awesome...

I like this subclass. But I'm a sucker for any dragon-themed subclass. And I don't care about the continuity debate. Like, at all.

The flavor to this isn't that important to me. I'd reskin it as needed to fit the campaign and the player preferences. What I love is the idea of a rogue who teleports around the battlefield shanking enemies. I would love to play that! That said, I rated it yellow because what I've read on these...

Mechanically, I believe that 5E is 3E stripped to the bone. It has all/most of the mechanical innovations of 3E, but with fewer options that are better balanced. I do wish 5E was built in a way that allowed greater variety, but every time the designers attempt to open that door, the community...

As a forever DM, I'd love a chance to play this subclass.
