Baldur's Gate Countdown Ends... Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition for Summer 2012

I knew Uriah Hatchus, the Fighter/Wizard/Thief was not finished making his mark on Faerun! This is good news. I'm a little unclear how exactly it is enhanced. Are they saying that it is the original game, but the new content consists of new side quests and maybe equipment? Are the graphics...

    The social contract

We don't really have a social contract. We just keep it in game and roll with the punches. I've only had 1 fellow player be the reckless type. My PC at the time was a survivalist and would only risk his life for another when it meant something. This other PC wanted to sneak into a warehouse by...

    What's Up with the Orcusword?

I tried to find out more about it when I was running Dead Gods. The only other thing I could find was a short paragraph in Dragon Magazine issue #359 page 62. Although, it refers to it as being a greatsword instead of a longsword along with it being a +6 weapon. I customized it a bit for the...

Are your players usually ok with restrictions?

Your food isn't all that bad. When I was in London, I tried out a McDonalds just to see if there was a difference and it was the best McDonalds I've ever been to.

Are your players usually ok with restrictions?

I wanted to give xp for that but I can't. That's pretty funny though. The sad thing is, I bet it would be helpful. Now I'm wanting to create a list of really odd restrictions for my next campaign and just see how the players react. It would be a complete joke, but I would be serious about it at...

Are your players usually ok with restrictions?

One player wasn't a problem, he just wanted to play a Fey'ri and I'm not a big fan of flying PCs at early levels. But I let him play it. He never did anything annoying other than create a new PC just a few sessions later. After all that begging and pleading and then he made a dwarf PC! The...

Are your players usually ok with restrictions?

That's how I am. I've been to a Chinese restaurant expecting to order a certain dish. They didn't have it on the menu. No big deal. I came to eat Chinese food (play D&D) and there were plenty of other things available that I do like. The reasons for why they didn't serve the dish made no...

Are your players usually ok with restrictions?

The Darksun campaign setting doesn't have half-orcs and I've never needed an explanation. If I'm unfamiliar with a homebrew setting and he tells me I can't play a half-orc, I don't need an explanation just like I didn't when I played Darksun for the first time. I might be curious and ask why...

Are your players usually ok with restrictions?

But if the DM simply said, "There are no half-orcs in this campaign world" then you would be ok with it? I don't understand how it makes a difference.

My wife busted me with my dirty mags in the "library".

You must not be married or have any kids. It's the only alone time you ever get!

My wife busted me with my dirty mags in the "library".

Being a perv wasn't the best choice of words. I'm sure our husbands/wives don't mind some perviness. But I'm hoping it means something to her that I'd rather look at drawings of dragons and read about their ecology while I'm in the bathroom instead of looking at a hot blond and reading about her...

Are your players usually ok with restrictions?

Several people have mentioned that they are ok with restrictions as long as it is not arbitrary. So I'm wondering, as a player, why would this bother you? If a DM had no other reason to ban half-orcs other than because he doesn't like them, why does it matter? It doesn't seem to be any...

My wife busted me with my dirty mags in the "library".

Hah, it actually was moved to the media lounge. She is used to me always reading my D&D material (not just in the library). So she just laughed at me and didn't say much. But as a husband, I think I'm being more respectful being geeky than being a perv. I'm sure she's grateful for that. :D

My wife busted me with my dirty mags in the "library".

My family refers to the bathroom as the "library" because the guys usually read while in there and we tend to keep books and magazines there for convenience. So I'm off to do my thing and I have a stack of magazines under my arm. Just as I am going in, my wife walks by. Right then, a thought...
