Correct, but you are thinking in 3E Immortals Handbook terms (which I always maintained worked up to about Greater God levels), not 5e God Rules Player's Guide terms (which works at any level). Precisely why I have dialed down the number of Divine Abilities to a 1e Deities & Demigods style...

It was in a set of caverns one central chamber (about 12x12) then a few smaller ones. Part of the issue was Graz't (and his side) rolled terrible in Initiative. As I recall he did Dominate someone on his First turn, by that point he was down 1 Marilith already. The Paladin with the Holy...

Absolutely and that main complaint is the Monsters are not tough enough. Totally agree. It was too complex in 3e because you have too many feats, skills, resistances and all sorts things for DMs to remember - it was just too much. The problems are never epic monsters do 500+ damage and have...

Fire away buddy - all opinions welcomed. I agree astronomical numbers simply as artificial difficulty IS a bad idea. However, the flipside is, powerful Epic Monsters need to deal sufficient damage to be considered 'powerful Epic Monsters', otherwise they just get steamrolled by the PCs...

I disagree with you for one obvious reason: Low Level play is already this dangerous. All I am suggesting is make High Level play as dangerous as Low Level play. Plus High Level PCs already have access to FAR more ways to avoid death and heal damage. Even assuming your character somehow got...

Certainly the 2024 monsters are generally a bit tougher. The thing is though 2024 PCs have also had some power creep, so it likely evens out.

Would work at low levels but I find using Hit Dice is good at all tiers...including my Immortal and higher tiers of play.

Just to clarify its 1/2 Hit Dice, but for Golems increase the amount +5% per point of Material AC above 11. So for an Iron Golem (Iron = AC 19) its: 2014 Iron Golem (20 Hit Dice) = 1/2 HD = 10, increase by 40% = Damage Threshold 14 2024 Iron Golem (24 Hit Dice) = 1/2 HD = 12, increase by 40% =...

Depends who they are facing. Typically HP is approx. x3 of a creatures damage output. So if a PC was facing 3 creatures of equal power and all 3 creatures hit with all attacks a PC with average Hit Points (between d8-d10s in Hit Dice) should be dropped. Likewise I believe a CR 24 monster...

Hey amigo! I agree with most of those although I might be wary of Adding Feats/Class Features as that leads us into 3E territory of over complication. I typically use Damage Threshold = 1/2 the creatures Hit Dice (or better for Golems) for each of my Epic Tier monsters.

Hey there TheSword! I agree with that to the extent of 'if we continue to use the official monster stats' then certainly we need to think 'outside the box' and involve the terrain and potential plot elements (Reinforcements for instance). Although I do believe a vastly simpler approach is to...

In the game last week, I was playing a Level 14 Fighter Battle Master (Heavy X-Bow build) and the rest of the group were: Level 16 Rogue Arcane Trickster Level 15 Fighter Champion Level 16 Barbarian Level 15 Paladin So very Martial Heavy (the week before the Paladin was not there and another...

    Things from my setting

Interesting take Obly, I'm still uncertain about how to rank Tiamat. Is the Lesser/Intermediate Goddess version merely an Avatar...or even just an Aspect? Is the original Tiamat linked to Primordial Chaos? If so how do Io, Bahamut and Apsu fit into everything. Not sure yet what the best fit is...

    D&D 5E (2024) Why doesn't the Tarrasque have Regen?

While the lack of Regeneration on the official version removed one of the Tarrasque's USP's having to use a Wish to kill it (nice implementation of that A5E ); the omission that always irks me the most is the removal of its Sharpness Bite - maybe that's too dangerous for today's gamers. But I...

Cheers Morrus - I promise to update the Story Page right now to amend my mistake. Edit: Actually how do you update the Story after launch...needs investigating.

GOD RULES: Player's Guide (5e) Kickstarter Pre-Launch Page

Howdy Alzrius amigo! Heart-rate must have been 180 there - I kept thinking I've messed something up. It will be EPIC - guaranteed! Thank goodness. The Preview was a bit last minute. I'll learn for the next Kickstarter. That's what I like to hear! Although the Story Page is basically...

Okay KICKSTARTER should be LIVE! Someone let me know its okay. Looks weird on my view because I have an added sidebar on the left which I assume no one else gets.

GOD RULES: Player's Guide (5e) Kickstarter Pre-Launch Page

Sounds Cool! One element I have added* (you might want to consider) is that if the Immortal's single attack ever deals damage in excess of the target's bloodied value (ie. Half Hit Points) it automatically gains a roll on a dismemberment Table (like a Sharpness effect) to obliterate a...

GOD RULES: Player's Guide (5e) Kickstarter Pre-Launch Page

I have added a Preview to some of the deities in God Rules for the Kickstarter (its not in the Pre-Launch, just the Kickstarter itself which goes live in about an hour). Here is the Link, can someone confirm the PDF can be viewed on Dropbox - just in case I have missed some option to make it...

GOD RULES: Player's Guide (5e) Kickstarter Pre-Launch Page

Howdy LunarSquid buddy! :) Its weird, Facebook/Meta Ads suggest I am tapping a pool of 57 million people, yet I know some people who have seen each of my 5 different Ads even though I know these Ads only get sent to maybe a few thousand people a day. So not entirely sure how their algorithm...
