Confirmed Skill List from D&DXP and WotC Articles (?)

If only the search feature worked. We did a skills list and a breakdown this weekend, but it's already buried somewhere a few pages back.

    How did recharge work?

I've been looking over this and I think I might have something. Most monsters have "Recharge x" listed on their sheet. That's easy, it recharges on a d6 roll (at the end of a round) if the roll meets or beats the recharge number. Recharge 4 means 4 or better on a d6 at the end of a round to see...

    Conversion: Keep on the Borderlands

Any notes or tips you feel like sharing would be appreciated. I was hoping to do the same at our next session.

5th Level Wizard Has 2 Daily And 2 Encounter Powers

Considering most of the pregens had 2 at-will, 1 encounter, and 1 daily, that does sound like the correct progression. It will likely cycle through, adding another at-will at 7th level etc... but, I thought the wizards would "only be down 25% of their power when their daily spells are gone."...

    Upcoming Classes Speculation

One of the things I loved the most about Dark Sun was the elemental clerics. Another vote for the Elementalist please. Especially the para-elemental clerics. Ooo... 4th ed Dark Sun, I'm drooling already.

    Upcoming Classes Speculation

From Races & Classes: Barbarians: "We've also tied barbarians and druids closer together." = Same source, let's say nature until release. Bards: "a bard is a leader who wields magic both dramatic and subtle." = Leader. Power source unknown. Druids, the house that wildshape built. Nothing...

    Healing out of combat

This is answered in the "What you need to know" pdf available on the D&D site. Healing Word, 2 per encounter. 5 minute rest: healing, tick off as many healing surges as you want between encounters. Per encounter powers are replenished. Total surges are still limited by day (are replenished...

Help! I need the wisdom of those who went to D&D XP

That's gotta be wrong. I know it's a daily spell, that in this edition 1st-level characters are more powerful, but I don't see slowing or sleeping up to 25 enemies with a single spell as being on par with the other daily spells (yes, I know the paladin's is nerfed, so let's agree to ignore it)...

    D&D 4E Rob Heinsoo on 4E PHB

No. What he said was you get different powers at every level. One level you gain a daily, the next an encounter, the next an at-will; or something like that.

    Ranger's Careful Attack house rule...

Exactly. That's the trouble. With the other powers of the ranger being situational, they will always default to using Careful Attack, much like the wizard's default attack is going to be Magic Missile. Notice though that the devs changed MM from auto-hit to a roll. Because auto-hit at-will is...

    Ranger's Careful Attack house rule...

Really, that's cool. Could you link please?

    Ranger's Careful Attack house rule...

Looking over all the info leaked from the con, I can't imagine that the ranger's Careful Attack power will stay as it appears on the sheet. The name implies a delay, the description implies delay ("you study the enemy, looking over his defenses"), I can't justify letting a character have a +4 to...

D&D 4E 4E: The day the game ate the roleplayer?

The "game" is what the mechanics allow you to do. The "role playing" is what the players decide their characters will do. Role playing game. Both. At the same time. If you want to role play, you don't need books; if you want to game, you don't need to act. If you want both, that's an RPG.

D&D eXPerience: Core Mechanics (now compiled in 1st post!)

Yes, weapon damage is maxed. Longbow 1d10 does 10 damage on a crit. Any powers/bonuses that grant extra dice are still rolled.

    Paladin Divine Challenge Fixed

What? The game designers are amazed that the players will find a rules exploit. That's weird. I thought game designers would be (at least in part, or some of them would be) mad rules-lawyering, power-gaming, crazy people sent out to track down and eliminate loopholes like this. It's D&D people...

D&D eXPerience: Core Mechanics (now compiled in 1st post!)

Wow, that fluff text and the example characters at the end scream: "All you World of Darkness players out there, come play D&D. Look! We can do whiny, dark, and brooding characters too." And the modern names section, come on. Great. Now I never have to worry about players trying to make names...

D&D eXPerience: Core Mechanics (now compiled in 1st post!)

It's likely something like: Armor: Heavy +6 AC, -4 skill penalty. Medium +4 AC, -2 skill penalty. Light +2 AC, no skill penalty. Heavy armors include: plate and scale. Medium armors include: chain. Light armors include: hide and leather.
