    How to stop runners?

While I am a fan of OA/AoO I am not sure even they can stop runners when you are outnumbered too much. Good chance they would just decide to draw the attack or simply have too many to attack as they ran for help. I don't necessarily consider that a bad thing.

    Move - Attack - Move

Cool - I thought that was what you meant, but wasn't sure! Might be an interesting modification to try as well. I just feel like there needs to be some penalty for moving through "threatened squares".

    Move - Attack - Move

I would likely rule if the player was giving up their action in order to withdraw without AoO then that would be fine. So disadvantage on the person trying to slip away on their next attack roll?

Review of Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG by Goodman Games

Great review! Looking forward to picking this game up as I keep hearing very positive things about it.

I don't understand Gridless combat. HELP!

You can use a grid with DDN too though. Just break out your battlemat and have at it. Give it a whirl and see how it works. I also strongly suspect that by release there is a tactical module that you can use that will give you the tactical style of play you want as an option.

    Move - Attack - Move

I don't like losing an action from the next turn. I am fine with someone getting a free attack because someone thought they could move by you with impunity.

    Move - Attack - Move

This seems reasonable. Has it played well for you so far with that house rule?

    Abstract long rests

Asides from 4e healing which other versions restored full hit points with a single night's rest without magical aide?

Pathfinders of Pelligrew's Pinnace [OOC 01]

I'm the newcomer to this game, so I defer to the long timers, but I won't let that stop me from throwing my 2 coppers in! Sandboxes are cool, but when crossed with a PbP I think sometimes a little prompt or nudge can be warranted. In a face to face game if we spend a session tackling something...

    Abstract long rests

Resource attrition. Okay - let's not go to the "you are doing it wrong" debate. Abstracted does not mean irrelevant or that it isn't a resource that is managed.

    Variable HP for monsters

This is one of those areas where it is really easy to accommodate both lines of thought. Just list the line like I suggested earlier: hp 15 (2d10+4) And both camps can be happy. The low prep (and we are all low prep at some point, right? ;) ) has a static number to use, no rolling needed. For...

    Move - Attack - Move

I haven't actually been able to play or DM yet, but... I am find with the move, action, move. I think that could be sort of fun. The lack of AoO allowing people to move with impunity is what bothers me.

Combat issues: slayer + at-will magic missile.

Good point! That is sort of the cool thing. So far, the things I don't like in the playtest would in most cases be easily fixed by a slight turn of the dial.

    Variable HP for monsters

Heh - sometimes I just give the critters max rolls for their hit dice and add their modifier.

    Variable HP for monsters

Yeah, using hit dice for the monsters instead of a flat HP value would be good. Just list it something like this: hp 15 (2d10+4) Then for DMs that want ease of use just use the default HP listed. If you want randomness then roll the HP or ratchet up or down as needed. I do that all the time...

    An open letter to WoTC

Nope, you are right - not every platform does. But there are lots of companies coming up with a mobile version of their site that does work on a multitude of devices. And I agree - a native app would be great (and preferred), but in reality a decent mobile web version would be just fine. At...

    Active and Passive Perception

Yeah, someone mentioned this in one of the other threads, I think the Is Wisdom too powerful thread. I agree, I think that sounds like a nice compromise (active versus passive).

    Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Miniatures

Don't get me wrong, I've seen one's more brittle, these just seem to require a little more care. If you aren't abusing them they should be fine. See if you can get your hands on a couple and you'll more easily be able to tell how big of an issue it is.

    PCs vs. DMPCs

I am not sure what stops you from doing this? Can't you just build up your NPC using the PC rules and run with that?

I have yet to use Tabletop Forge in practice, but I have been following along on Google+ as the guy develops it. They did have someone write some documentation for it, maybe it will help: Documentation | Tabletop Forge
