    PFS #41: Crypt of Fools

Kalenth seizes his opportunity on the derro as it turns its focus towards Kronk. With no time wasted the ranger makes a powerful slash that catches the derror unaware. The pale skinned creature slumps off the end of the sword to the ground in a still heap. Party Health Kronk (1hp damage)...

    Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Miniatures

I can only comment on the Beginner Box Minis set, but I was very impressed with them from the painting quality of a mass produced mini. The biggest complaint I had was that they were more "brittle" than the old D&D minis. Not disturbingly so, but the old D&D minis were pretty resilient in my...

    VTT Suggestions

Yeah - I would take a look at this one first. Pretty lightweight and low barrier to entry. I would also consider MapTool. It will be slightly more complex to setup because someone needs to host the server which can be trouble if you aren't used to forwarding ports. It is capable of a whole lot...

    PFS #41: Crypt of Fools

The derros steps in again towards Kalenth, swinging its corded, club-like weapon at the ranger again. This time it manages to make contact, the blow sending waves of pain through Kalenth's upper leg as the derro hastily dodges Kalenth's retalitory attack. Kronk takes another step closer to the...

PoPP: Souls For Smuggler's Shiv [01]

Taron readily agrees to participate and does not object to the slight repositionings as he worked through the series of movements. Taron adapts quickly to the movements, but finds the vocal portion of the mantra a little more difficult to get just right. Taron watches as Lerissa does a double...

    An open letter to WoTC

At this point even a mobile web based UI would suffice. The fact of the matter is that here are with tablets becoming more pervasive at the table and we still can't use the character builder from tablets at the table.

    Abstract long rests

Really all that has to be done to put me back in the happy camp is let the long rest (one night) allow you to roll your hit dice for the amount of hit points you get back. So if you are a 6th level cleric and you rest for 8 hours, roll 6d8 back in hit points. Simple to remember and easy to use...

Surprise (-20 Init) the penalty that won’t go away

Condition implying it could be removed or expire after "x" of rounds?

Surprise (-20 Init) the penalty that won’t go away

If I was DM I would likely explain it by saying that 12 seconds later the fighter and wizard still haven't "come off their heels" from being surprised initially.

Does Anyone Find the Encumbrance Amounts Unrealistic?

You know, wonky at the edges is a good way of putting it. And overall it really doesn't bother me much as I do understand not needing to break out a chart to look up encumbrance that comes with its pros that for the most part out weigh the cons of some of this wonkiness at the edges.

Presentaion of Spells: To Prose or Not To Prose?

The spells need some form of a stat block at the top. During a game I am likely to be looking up something like range, area, etc. I want that information quickly. I don't want to have to find that information in a paragraph of information. I want it consistently located in easy to read location...

    An open letter to WoTC

The current Character Builder is done in Silverlight. That does not work on some of the more predominant mobile devices or tablets these days, like say the iPhone or the iPad.

Does Anyone Find the Encumbrance Amounts Unrealistic?

Ouch! I hadn't looked at the lift and drag weight rules closely.

    Quick Playtest Report

Yeah - it has been this way for awhile, even in 3.x/Pathfinder. If the cleric focuses on contributing to taking down the critters faster or protecting those that do via spells like your players used above you can mitigate damage much faster than trying to heal through damage. It takes a bit of...

Combat issues: slayer + at-will magic missile.

Then define it as you see it rather than post a dig at someone's idea of fun. So you play at the same level all the time? Don't take your share of treasure? Refuse more powerful weapons and spells? The RPG environment is full of examples of characters earning imaginary things to increase...

    Wisdom too powerful?

That could be an interesting way to handle it and fairly clean cut as well. I like it.

    Wisdom too powerful?

There is probably flexibility for the DM to allow either for Perception type checks. With that said, I can certainly see why Wisdom would be the default. Being very smart does not always make one observant. I have seen many very intelligent people miss small details in their surroundings.

Does Anyone Find the Encumbrance Amounts Unrealistic?

Yeah, looked at it in that perspective it seems a bit off. It looks hard to find the right balance through a simple "multiply by" formula though. If you use 5 as the multiplier then it makes a STR score of 10 seem a little more reasonable, but now your fighter at 18 strength is only carrying...

Combat issues: slayer + at-will magic missile.

I think the issue is more the beefed up at-will magic that some folks are struggling with. I know on reading it that I am inclined to think it might be too much. I really need to see it in play though as I might find it plays out better for me than it reads. Not having at-wills though does not...

    Save or suck Medusa petrification

Yeah, for the situation I described I would simply call for a Strength check most likely to make the jump. As the DM I would have no issue making the decision to handle it that way and the rules as they are now provide me a consistent framework to resolve that situation.
