    Stacking advantage: doing the math

    Stacking advantage: doing the math

I think in actual play it would be frustrating trying to remember all the bonuses and stacking them. I'd have to see it in actual play though, but that is my suspicion.

    Save or suck Medusa petrification

I like an action point or hero point system for this. Spend one and re-roll. Or add a modifier prior to the roll to further enhance you chance of making the save. By putting this "safety net" to really bad rolls via an action point or hero point system the rest of the rules can be less complex...

Hit points & long rests: please consider?

Because I am not sure how a person recovers hit points at rate of 40 hit points per night. Or as we scale upwards an even greater number of hit points per night. Furthering your example, so now the fighter with 82 hit points is down 72 hit points. He still should recover all of them...

Strangely Missing/Atlered Aspects from the Playtest Docs

I probably wouldn't read too much into the lack of XP information. Getting the core mechanics down is likely much higher priority. Once those rules are stable and closer to where they will end up then a closer look can be taken at XP.

Hit points & long rests: please consider?

I do think a long rest should be longer than a single night. I am good with a more rapid return of hit points for a single night of long rest, but as the amount of hit points increase I guess I have a harder time buying that one is going to recover all of their hit points in a single night of...

    Advantages / Disadvantages

Same as when they roll a 1 or 20 during single dice rolls. A big groan or loud exclamation at their unbelievable luck (good or bad). Sometimes that is just how the dice roll...

    Save or suck Medusa petrification

Interesting! I had not made it to the Sleep and Hold Person spells yet. Still not sure I like the mechanic, but if they do decide to stick with that mechanic I could see it might be applicable to apply to petrifying gaze as well. Yeah, I default to "well it should just be based on HD, its...

    Advantages / Disadvantages

For an advantage roll you would take the highest roll and apply the results, so you succeed. On a disadvantage roll you take the lowest roll so you failed.

    Save or suck Medusa petrification

I am confused on the point you are trying to make. You seem to indicate initially that people shouldn't get a save, but then describe an alternative mechanic that requires saves? Which point are we debating? Whether a save should be required at all or how should the save work?

    Save or suck Medusa petrification

Interesting. I am not sure I would like having the amount of HP tied into my other skills/abilities to perceive things, but an interesting idea. I would be afraid that this might lead to HP starting to tie into other things. i.e. oh, down to half HP, then you roll at disadvantage to make that...

Agreed. I think I like this mechanic.

    Save or suck Medusa petrification

So is this advocating that everyone needs to try to make the save with no chance to avert their eyes? Would you have been happier with a higher DC? I would be all for a higher DC, but I can understand the lower one representing that when you decided to take your peek that she happened to be...

    Save or suck Medusa petrification

Okay, you don't like the mechanics for the Medusa. How would you mechanically represent the Medusa's ability to turn people to stone and keep the game the way you would want it mechanically?

    Save or suck Medusa petrification

Okay, took a glance at the Medusa. I do not see what the fuss is about. Pretty much I can avoid having to make a save against turning to stone by averting my eyes. If I avert my eyes I use the Disadvantage mechanics. That seems to make sense to me. If I can't look directly at my target it only...

    The Playtest Agreement

Terms in the FAQ don't seem enforceable to me even if they chose to enforce it. Things in the actual agreement I agreed to in order to download would be enforceable if they chose to. Playing online really isn't much different than face to face, I don't need to copy any more materials for an...

Any one feel there is simply not enough to go on?

On my initial glance I think it if fine. They want to focus the play test on certain elements which the play test materials provide. Why focus on character creation if the core bits aren't where they are going to end up. Once these rules get tweaked then they can start expanding outwards to the...

    The Playtest Agreement

I do not recall seeing the prohibition of playing online being prohibited in the actual agreement I agreed to in order to download the playtest. I can't see the FAQ as being "binding" as I do not recall agreeing to those terms or conditions prior to download. Or did I just miss something in...

Can't downlaod Playtest (Bad Request - Invalid URL; Error 400)

Easily downloaded this morning. Yesterday was just a mess though. I tried numerous times throughout the day and never managed to get it downloaded. Oh well, I have it now and will hopefully get to catch up and join in on the discussions soon!
