    Who’s Going to Gen Con?

Looks like things might be looking up. Won't be getting out there for the four full days, but it is looking likely that I will be there Friday and Saturday. Can't wait!

    D&D 5E (2014) [D&D Next] Second Packet - initial impressions

Yeah - the ranged versus touch is the big thing. Less damage with Ray of Frost, but much greater chance of hitting. Also, depending on which school the wizard chose there were some other options for attack that were at least 3 + INT modifier times per day. Between Ray of Frost, spells and...

    PFS #41: Crypt of Fools

Kronk studies the doors for traps and finding none he opens the doors leading into the crypt at the corner of this room. Beyond the doors he finds a well lit room with ornate carvings decorating the walls inside the Ismacco crypt, creating several stylized burial niches. Tall, marbled pillars...

Tome of Horrors now on D20PFSRD!

Awesome! I am sure that was a ton of work! But very useful!

Finally, the Fighter can both Stunt and Hit

I can't help but make the same comparison. In making that comparison I feel like DCC RPG is doing it more elegantly with much less overhead.

New playtest and feats...did I miss something?

I don't really like specialties as it feels too constraining to me. But having a full feat list seems like we are moving back to the 3.x and PF way of doing things and is ripe for future sourcebooks to put us right back to way too many feats to choose from or feat taxes. Now I really do like...

    D&D 5E (2014) [D&D Next] Second Packet - initial impressions

I don't want to go too far off-topic, but I don't think the wizard in my PF BB games ever used a crossbow. Depending on the school they chose at character creation there were several options. And even Ray of Frost as a ranged touch attack for 1d3 worked in a pinch. I am sure everyone had...

    D&D 5E (2014) [D&D Next] Second Packet - initial impressions

Yeah, not sure why they didn't throw in point buy.

Agreed. I am glad to see this addition.

    D&D 5E (2014) [D&D Next] Second Packet - initial impressions

I can't put my finger on it exactly at this point, but I think for me this playtest packet took a step backwards. Need to read some more and see if I can put my finger on it. I think the first playtest seemed nice and simple to me. This one, not so much.

New playtest and feats...did I miss something?

This would help alleviate some of my dislike in this second playtest.

D&D 5E (2014) New D&D Next Playtest Packet Is Here!

On Twitter they said an adventure would be coming next week.

D&D 5E (2014) New D&D Next Playtest Packet Is Here!

Definitely a smoother download process this time. No issues with that. I will be back later to contribute to discussion once I have had a chance to, you know, actually read the new stuff!

Pathfinder 1E Prepping for Pathfinder: Kingmaker (spoilers!)

Yep! As a GM I loved that battle! Helped make up for all the easy encounters during exploration! I really enjoyed the final book in that series as a GM. Along the way I feel I had done a good job of foreshadowing it, so book 6 didn't seem as far out of left field as some complained on the Paizo...

    PFS #41: Crypt of Fools

The group stands near the doors to the great crypt ahead, taking in all sights and sounds as they cautiously watch. The portion of the crypt you have moved through remains quiet, only the door ahead of you.

Pathfinder 1E Prepping for Pathfinder: Kingmaker (spoilers!)

A lot of the encounters in Kingmaker were pretty easy. It was simply the nature of one encounter per hex plus maybe a wandering critter or two. That let the party be ready for most encounters. There were some exceptions along they way, but they were exceptions. There was usually at least one...

Pymapper is pretty similar I think and should be usable offline.

    Who’s Going to Gen Con?

I have a badge, I have a place to stay. Still not sure I am going to make it though. Hoping something works out, but if I do get to go it will likely just be Friday and Saturday.

    Opinions - IPad 2 or 3?

While iTunes is not great, I almost never have to use it. I used it to setup the iPad initially (not even sure you have to do that with the new generation iPads as I think they were trying to remove that step) and have probably only connected it back to that PC a handful of times in over a year...
