    Greyhawk Ruins - your experiences?

I'm with diaglo on this one, though I don't feel quite as strongly. It just didn't seem interesting enough to justify the time investment. However, I will admit that in those days, I was looking it more as something intended to be played all the way through rather than a setting that PCs...

D&D Insider - Pay tomorrow for what you get today for free?

I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure that WotC's deal with Paizo lets Paizo produce the magazine but that they have not actually sold it to them. Rather than make Dragon unofficial, if they want to get back into the magazine game themselves, I think they would take it back rather than farming...

D&D Insider - Pay tomorrow for what you get today for free?

Previews are an astoundingly small part of Dragon, and are certainly not the reason I subscribe. You might notice that Dragon (as well as Dungeon) are very well regarded right now, but a few years back, when Dragon was reading more like support for the current months product, people were not...

    Running Expedition to Castle Ravenloft

Also, did anyone else notice that in the last handful of encounters, the text often refers you to the conclusion of the adventure, when there really is no conclusion beyond the encounter itself? Does anyone know if there was a page that got cut, possibly akin to the optional ending included in I6?

    Running Expedition to Castle Ravenloft

I just read both over the past couple days and I definitely think that I6 has way more of a gothic flavor. You are certainly correct about the tomb names (and the this section of the adventure is much improved in the new version) but that's really the only area where the change adds to the...

Fiendish Codex II next month--Any scoop/rumors/etc.?

I think this book sounds pretty cool and am surprised by the overwhelming negativity on this thread, and by amount of posts by people who don't even believe morbiczer that he has the book. Anyhow, I look forward to picking it up when funds allow and checking it out for myself.

224 page book on Drow yet...

My guess is that there probably is not an update to any of these in there, but the book does come out a month after Expedition to the Demonweb Pits so it will be interesting to see if there are any tie-ins.

    Accents

Everyone in my campaign world speaks in a Boston accent. ;)

    Goodman Games Known Realms

I haven't seen it myself but there are a bunch of people around here who speak highly of it, and there are some free previews that you can download over at Goodman's site. As for a review, I haven't noticed a formal one, but there was a big thread here discussing it fairly recently and I bet...

Playing Aids for the old RAvenloftII: House on Gryphon Hill Campaign

I have that module. Assuming that I am not missing anything, it contains: 1. cover (including monster statistics chart and Map # 2: House on Gryphon Hill) 2. 48 page booklet 3. poster map, with Mordentshire on one side and the Heather House on the reverse. 4. some handouts that appear to...

Shooting arrows into the water - rules?

I'm pretty sure that I read something (feat, magic item, class feature?) last week in Stormwrack that lets you shoot from land into water at reduced (or no) penalty. Though, obviously, I don't recall the exact details.

How Many Groups Do You Play In?

1 theoretically year-round, plus another (partially overlapping) group that usually does a short story arc over the winter months.

    Campaign World Problems/ Questions/ Considerations

Interesting dilemma, I never thought about that. Anyhow, regarding the questions of regional naming conventions, a few folks have mentioned their distaste for fantasy names. Speaking only for myself of course, when I previously indicated support for regional naming conventions, I did not mean...

    Campaign World Problems/ Questions/ Considerations

Good questions, I am curious as to how my own players would answer. When I created my world, I created a unique calendar, had regional naming conventions and tried to create realistic geography (though admittedly, I am a geography nerd). If I was doing it over, I would likely drop the unique...

Birthright. Tell Me About It. Please.

Both came out in 1995, but Birthright was actually out a few months earlier, in July, whereas revised Dark Sun was an October release.

Which Environment book would you buy?

Yeah, I don't have Cityscape either but I like all three of the others. I'd have to say, when this series was announced I thought it would be lame but I have been very impressed. I voted for Stormwrack, which I resisted buying until about a week ago (mostly because the new races left such a...

Scourge of the Howling Horde [SPOILERS]

Expedition to Castle Ravenloft uses the new encounter format but does not use check boxes for hp, it gives them as numerals (and includes HD too, I'm pretty sure).

    From obscurity to major players

I want to see some love given to Gleep Wurp the Eyebiter. ...just kidding, I don't, really, I don't.

Birthright. Tell Me About It. Please.

Can't speak for the other BR books, but both of the ones by Simon Hawke (the one you mention is The Iron Throne, and its sequel is War) were both very good by TSR/Wotc novel standards.

    Finally got the new Ravenloft.

I believe Voncenoctum is talking about his own campaign, I am pretty sure that Karrnath is indeed the recommended location for Castle Ravenloft in Eberron according to the book.
