A killer puzzle that makes me want to pull my hair out.

No, no, he meant, how will the game progress for you now, since you're NOW playing a corpse, since the GM stupidly killed you off in the first session?

    American Army or American army?

That's dumber than hell. Soldier isn't a proper noun, and I don't think whatever propoganda the DoD is working on with this should be supported, anyway.

Handicapped by lack of Power Points?

They're not explicit, but they are clear, I think. It doesn't say you need points in your psionic pool to create a soulblade, so you don't. It says he needs "psionic power to materialize his mind blade", not psionic power points; I think it's flavor text, at that point, honestly. There have...

(help please) Mechanic for simulating PC insanity due to use of psionic powers?

How insane do you want them to go? How quickly? You could use a saving-throw type mechanic, where every time they use a power they must make a will save themselves vs an equivalent DC or take 1 sanity damage (or 1d6, or whatever). Then you just have to decide how long the damage track is (20...

    All PDF Publishers

You said you redownloaded it and then removed the underscore in the new copy. The new copy probably had much more to do with it than the underscore did. Try pulling the old, corrupted copy out of your deleted items, and change that underscore to a space. It still will be corrupted.

Can someone explain crippled OGC to me

Yeah, the license wasn't really for the rules, the OGL + the d20 license let people publish games which were compatible with D&D, and could advertise themselves as such, without getting sued. That was the real warm fuzzy for publishers, and led directly to the d20 publishing boom.

Can someone explain crippled OGC to me

I don't own Mythic Heroes, so I can't check. If you didn't use any text from it, then the answer is the same: yes. Copyright doesn't protect ideas, only expression.

Can someone explain crippled OGC to me

Yeah, but with the OGL, citation and respect of PI are required, which helps give publishers a warm fuzzy.

Can someone explain crippled OGC to me

Which file, the Ars Magica rules thing Yair posted? If it doesn't contain significant text from the book, then yeah, you could publish it, they could sue you (all a lawsuit takes is lawyers and money), and they wouldn't win. It might be so expensive to defend yourself in a civil suit that...

Can someone explain crippled OGC to me

No. It also gives you a method to cite your sources and get yourself cited by others (section 15). It also gives a method to withold names and other designations you consider to be your creative marks (PI) from others who reuse your open content, sort of a poor-man's trademark. More...

Can someone explain crippled OGC to me

It doesn't have to be open. Game mechanics are not covered by copyright. That was Yair's statement; he can republish the mechanics of Ars Magica any way he chooses, because ideas are not copyrighted. He did so (I assume; I don't own Ars Magica). The rewording is the problem. The OGL is a...

HOW is this an OGC decleration?

Here's one from the US Copyright office, which actually wasn't around the last time I looked up this topic. It's nice to see the government putting up useful, straightforward answers about this sort of thing. Skotos.net has a good series of articles on IP law as it relates to games, the first...

Can someone explain crippled OGC to me

The OGL has led to a huge boom in available products. Many of them are awesome. They only exist because the OGL lets publishers derive material from already-published works. Someone who is publishing off this goodwill using the OGL, but crippling their OGC so no-one else can use it in the...

HOW is this an OGC decleration?

Yes. The OGL is a license allowing use of copyrighted materials. Open content, designated as such under the license, is the copyrighted material that can be used by others. Game mechanics are not copyrighted. They actually cannot be, and there is case law to this effect. Someone can write a...

    GameStore Spam

Any progress on this? I just received email from the game store (Newsletter #5). I haven't bought anything from the store, and this really isn't encouraging me. As far as I know, I've done nothing to set up a gamestore account, so this must have been done in the background, without notifying...

    New Paladin Spell(s)

That seems like it should be two different spells. One that is immediate casting time and instant duration (which lets it be useful vs boom spells), the other is 1 standard action to cast and lasts 1 round per level. Might want to make that a dodge bonus to their AC, as that's effectively...

    fixing Wraithstrike

That's the thing, it was designed thinking of a single-classed mage, but a multiclassed warrior/caster with power attack quickly gets out of hand. For instance, in our last game, I had recently picked up this spell and never had a chance to use it. As a hasted, 13th-level...

    fixing Wraithstrike

A 2nd level wizard/sorceror spell that, cast as a swift action, makes all your melee attacks this round touch attacks. As a 2nd level spell, swift action, it's too good. It's better than a quickened true strike, for instance, which would be a 5th level spell, and only affects one attack. In...

    Aasimar Commoner Proficiencies Question

Not really. That feat was too good, too. One feat that grants potentially infinite other feats? The heck?
