    D&D 5E (2014) Hiding vs Sneaking: A reinterpretation

For many things you don't need rules. A DM and players with a certain level of common sense should solve these problems. :)

D&D 5E (2014) Why Good Rogues Should Not Use a Bow

Didn't read through all these pages... But I agree to the initial post. 5e rogues work best in melee. - sneak attack for free with a partner anywhere around same foe - in this case "pseudo-advantage" when dual wielding - disengage/dash as bonus action for in/out of melee - uncanny dodge if...

D&D 5E (2014) Sacred Cow Bites The Dust.

Never used XP as a DM. Still wonder why some people calculate encounter / monster XP. If it's time, let the players level up. One golden rule: all PCs are the same level. If one player is missing a session - and they usually do for a reason - the missing PC will stay the same level as the others.

    D&D 5E (2014) Multiclassing

To the original question: - multiclassing is fun, because it offers options - there are only a few combos, which are IMO not broken, maybe slightly too powerful - even these come at a price, delay of high level abilities / spells The most powerful PC I had in 5e until now was a straightforward...

D&D 5E (2014) What is dead may... not be dead

That makes it so much easier! Thieves' Guild? There should be some arcane trickster around for some illusions. And have him hanged, without the PCs getting too close a look at it. Illusory rope? A piece of wood behind his neck so it doesn't break? If he's burned... potion of fire resistance...

D&D 5E (2014) What is dead may... not be dead

Depends on HOW he was executed. Even without magic a fake execution might be possible if he paid all the important people around there. The executioners, the people carrying him away, the "doctor" who declared him dead. Easy with illusions: let some friend of him done the non-static illusion...

D&D 5E (2014) How Many Classes Have You Tried?

5e - I am the DM most of the time. But I've tried and played a few: fighter 5 (human, battlemaster, loved it!) warlock 4 (dwarf, blade pact, not my thing) rogue 4 / fighter 1 (wood elf, assassin, loved it even more!) I started with 1e in about 1986... let's see what I can remember: 1e human...

    D&D 5E (2014) Combat Encounter Difficulty

Yeah, sure. But as I said, these many lower level encounters are deadly, I mean deadly boring. ;)

D&D 5E (2014) Could SCAG be power creep?

No significant power creep IMO. Only melee classes get further screwed when the wizard / bladesinger even gets good at melee.

    D&D 5E (2014) Combat Encounter Difficulty

Too many easy encounters are so booooring, so in all our campaigns (D&D 5e, PF) we prefer the big end fight, where PCs start at least with 80% of their firepower. Maybe one or two easier encounters before the final battle. Especially the 5e monsters with their low AC but many hp and mostly...

D&D 5E (2014) Adventure idea, missing links - help please!

Hi, I was just told that we're going to play tomorrow, and I need some help. It's my our family campaign (ages 10..15) and I recently had the ideato get them into a classical horror / vampire story. FYI, they are 4 players, D&D 5e, level 8: he sorcerer, hu druid, we ranger, ha rogue. I think I...

    Low and no damage characters

IMHO there need to be some damage dealers, otherwise combat will take too long. but that's just personal taste.

    Player's Handbook 2: I haz it

just got an email from amazon.de that my PHB2 will not arrive until 27th. :( so maybe someone could help me out with some info on the avenger. I've seen the photos, but still I'd like to know how: EDIT: okay, found the photo with the half-orc avengers telling me how the oath and some low level...

    Sneak attack w/ Blinding Barrage?

I'd say whirlwind sneak attack is okay, because: - it's epic - usually only once per encounter: -- when will you ever have combat advantage against so many opponents? - except for the first round? - the rogue's a striker! AKW

    Ability Score Blues

from my playing experience being able to hit is the most important thing in 4e. so - although I don't like it - your main stat should be 18+. there aren't many things to get an attack bonus from, so your main stat must be high. it's so effing frustrating when you burn your dailies and action...

    D&D 4E 4E Half-Orcs, Half-Eladrin, and Half-Drow

yep. their other abilities are not enough. and the dwarf's minor action 2nd wind is almost worth an encounter power. but +5 vs sleep? hmmm. too weak. but I also agree that the half-orc looks great - and balanced! perfect race for fighter, paladin, ranger. AKW

    Pole arm ranger

    great idea, that's it!

    Pole arm ranger

hard to say, it sounds okay. Maybe add that the prof. bonus for the stick end is only +2. Actually I think it is okay. Compared to 2 bastardswords at +3 / 1d10, the polearm version at +2 / d10 / d6 + reach with one part sounds fair. AKW

    D&D 4E Class-free 4E

great work, Ambush Bug! maybe you should add the following: - add rogue weapon profs for 1 point - make rogue / fighter weapon talent exclusive too Concerning powers, I would add the following restriction, because utility and some other powers are not affected by stats: AKW
